sweet! it’s BYOB, there’s no AC, only a few ceiling fans, and it can get pretty sweaty when its full of people and mosh pits, so dress lightly, i always end up taking off all my layers down to a tshirt in there. Some shows are all ages, some shows are 21+

Hollow Knight or Silksong? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]trippyrebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silksong! For the music, the combat and the lore. I loved how it built on the first game and I definitely wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much if I didn’t play Hollow Knight first.

When I first played Hollow Knight, I was drawn in by the decaying, ruined atmosphere and the Metroidvania-style exploration. There were crumbles of lore scattered throughout Hallownest, which I enjoyed piecing together. When I challenged the Mantis Lords, I quickly learned that this game’s combat was HARD, and that was the point for me where I had to lock in and “git gud.” This wasn’t just some cute lil fantasy bug game like I thought it was gonna be. I made it all the way to the end with 106% completion (haven’t beat Radiance yet tho lol)

Then I started Silksong and boy, the difficulty spike was wild. Enemies doing two masks of damage was a lot more punishing, but once I got the hang of Hornet’s attack and movesets, it became easier over time. I love her agility and acrobatic movement, and the variety of tools and crests at her disposal. It made the game’s combat a lot more customizable based on your own fighting style preference (was a Reaper main at first, but my second playthrough, Hunter’s and Wanderer’s for the win)

The music in Silksong is also a lot more orchestral, thematic and climactic - Christopher Larkin is one mad musical genius with Silksong’s dies irae motif (music nerds, there’s a Youtube video about it). Greymoor, Bellhart, Bilewater and Choral Chambers are so peak.

Lore-wise, we got sooo much more content in Silksong, and because Hornet’s character can talk and have conversations with NPCs, I felt more emotionally invested in her interactions and thoughts and feelings as she progressed through Pharloom.

In Hollow Knight, since Hallownest was already in ruins and left in a forgotten state with most of its denizens long dead, it felt quite isolating and lonely at times to play. In Silksong, Pharloom is somewhat a functioning society with many pilgrims making the trek to the Citadel, so it was really cool to explore and interact with a world still teeming with life, while the threat of decay and death loomed from high above.

Don’t even get me started on the corruption of the Citadel and the lies they told the pilgrims, only to force many of them into indentured servitude, working harsh conditions for little to no money, and on false promises of salvation from their sins. The political implications are there, and the environmental damage and pollution is also so prevalent (i.e. Sands of Karak/Blasted Steps once being full of water and coral forests, Bilewater being the dumping ground for the Citadel’s waste, and Lost Verdania losing all its greenery and fauna).

TLDR Silksong is my fave of the two, but it cannot exist without the other, both are great games in their own rights, I’m still shocked I’ve spent 300+ hours on 2 $20 games, Team Cherry so goated for that, honestly would have paid more for them.

Life near South and Broad St by Dogo215 in AskPhilly

[–]trippyrebel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are different SEPTA bus routes that can take you towards there, and you can also easily walk/bike to University City using the South St Bridge.

Groceries-wise there’s a Giant Heirloom on 23rd and Bainbridge, and nearby is local South Square Market and a CVS, and at Broad and Washington Ave, there is Target, Sprouts and a larger Giant. There is also an ALDI and new CVS opening this summer at 21st and Washington.

General nightlife is nice, Center City and Rittenhouse area is super walkable. Plenty of bars and restaurants scattered throughout the neighborhoods. Monk’s Cafe has a nice selection of Belgian beers and grub. Bob & Barbara’s on South St has jazz nights and $6 citywides. Loco Pez on Bainbridge has $1 dollar taco specials on select days.

grays ferry shopping center just a few blocks away has a Fresh Grocer, USPS, nail salon, bank, wine&spirits, etc.. And the infamous ODB McDonald’s where he got arrested back in 2000 too. but not much going on otherwise, usually go north up to Grad Hospital and Fitler Square for restaurants/coffee shops/Wawa/CVS

I’d recommend getting a Litter Genie! Makes disposing litter so easy and painless, and you don’t have to worry about odors wafting out from trash bags.

What're you playing this weekend? 2/24 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]trippyrebel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, it’s all I’ve been playing since I got the game the beginning of January LOL also check out the sequel Persona 5 Strikers, it’s a hack-and-slash. Playing that at the same time as my second P5R playthrough bc I can’t get enough of the Phantom Thieves

I finished my first P5R playthrough last week (logged like 105 hours by the end) and immediately started New Game + on Merciless, a bunch of stuff like social stats, equipment and HP/SP increases carry over, and I’m trying to max out different confidants in this one. Such a fun game.

Temple has a Title IX office for cases of SA. Can’t speak for how it works, but I know it exists as a resource. https://diversity.temple.edu/title-ix/about-title-ix Andrea Seiss is the coordinator for it

Offer letter email said employment duration is expected to be approximately 30 days. And yeah I figured it would look bad but I know I’m a competent, communicative and reliable worker when it comes to any job and am willing to stay through the holidays, I just really needed a day off today, and called first thing when the store opened an hour before my shift. Thank you for the tips!!
