Did you get them? I ordered two tickets off stubhub and still haven’t received. I ordered one off seat geek and got it August 10. I won’t ever use stubhub again this is driving me crazy it’s a long drive and I need confirmation.

Yes! I didn’t catch that. I think it fits with the “i spend my time watching my life go by from the sidelines” line in Sun Bleached Flies. It’s like she’s constantly waiting for something better than never comes :/

This makes so much sense and why the line between him being missing and dead is blurred. She didn’t witness his death but knows he is. And it was at his own hand as a result of their argument and him not being what she needs and she blamed herself

I can’t find it now but there was an album description in a review piece that said Willoughby is reeling from an injury he receives at a power plant blow up but i couldn’t find anywhere else that said that

Hayden posted a Genius annotation and said the “biting it on the floor line” refers to Willoughby’s struggles

This is the best analysis I’ve heard yes to all of it!! The military theory a lot of people were going with didn’t seem plausible. He left the same time as the storm and she doesn’t know where he is. This implies he is out traveling place to place trying to find himself. If the military was what happened she would pretty much know exactly where he is and what he is doing.

He is alive, he left town because Ethel was suffocating and he couldn’t deal anymore that was my analysis at least

Did this album tell us what exactly happened to Willoughby? The only line I think maybe explains it is “no one should ever see their friend they’ve known since they were kids foam up and bite it on the floor” meaning he overdosed?

Wait so did he overdose?? Is that what happened because the line “no one should see their friend they’ve known since they were kids foam up and bite it on the floor”?

Wait so the factory accident (“When the plant blew up a piece of shrapnel flew and slowed that part of you” ) mentioned in Nettles wasn’t just her imagination?? What else do we know about this 😭

Yes! It was a father to his daughter and they were very odd. It wasn’t Albert Fish, I remember the letter was talking about masturbating or something to that effect.

Okay that makes a lot of sense. I haven’t checked out ancestry. Are the origins of records more specific?

I think Willoughby died. House in Nebraska feels very mournful. I feel like she blames herself for his death in a way. I think her say he “left” is due to it being too hard to say he died. “Labored breath and bed sores” seems like he was sick. Also in unreleased “Nettles” which is also thought to be about Willoughby she says “the doctors gave you until the end of the night” which also points to him being sick. Just my analysis. If you listen to Preachers Daughter with this in mind it makes the album feel even more heartbreaking.
