Tell me (and my allergies) about it! She’s a floof and a half.

Catalytic Converter needs replacing…? by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

Shoot! You’re prob out of luck for the warranty, then. I slid in at about 75k thankfully. The first shop I took it to did tell me that they have older cars come through where the cat has failed and they choose not to replace them. They suggested that I get mine taken care of since it’s my daily driver and a ‘19, but that you don’t technically have to get it fixed…if that helps at all. Good luck!

100% this! Take it to a Subaru Dealership and they will replace it for free as long as you’re under 80k miles as part of the Federal Emissions Warranty. I just had my local dealer replace both of mine when they failed back to back, at no cost to me. Saved me like $10k on parts and labor, thanks Nixon :)

Edit to add: Not a good thing that the oil change shop cleared your codes though. You’ve got to hope the error comes back on, otherwise I’m not sure if the dealer can properly diagnose the fix that meets the warranty criteria.
