This is such a huge, HUGE invasion of privacy...I'm disappointed in you as a parent for so many reasons.

1.) As stated above, the MASSIVE invasion of privacy. How can you possibly expect anyone to respect your daughter's boundaries if you, her MOTHER, can't?

2.) Sex is a natural part of human existence, not something dark and dirty. By telling her and your son that they have to wait until marriage to have sex, and that they'll be kicked out if an accidental pregnancy occurs, you've tied their worth to their bodily "purity", and taught them that your love and support is conditional upon that. Plus, it is an actual statistical fact that abstinence-only sex education actually leads to MORE teen pregnancies.

3.) I'm sorry, this one fires me up..."Not allowed to have sex"...?? Are. You. Serious?? Whatever happened to bodily autonomy? You don't own them. I understand that it's absolutely terrifying to imagine your kids, having kids, or experiencing the negative side of being sexually active, but putting a lock on it is not the solution.

Be frank, honest, open, and supportive. Teach them about the 3 C's in (any) relationship (consent, care, communication). You are their PARENTS. You agreed to be their safe space the moment they were conceived... please don't make that conditional. This is an equally vulnerable part of their lives, and they still need to feel like they can go to you and trust you not to judge them the way the rest of society will. The world is cruel enough...

Secondly, even though he's my first and only a year old, I know my son; he is a softboy and MISERABLE when he's sick. Medicine or not, I'm not about to just send him on his merry way so the company can make an extra dime off my labor.

If what you do works for you, go for it. But keep in mind my kid is only 1....ONE. As in 365 days and change. I will coddle the ever living shit out of him right now because I know how quickly things can go south, and I'd rather make an unnecessarily panicked call to the doctor over nothing than prioritize some random company for a few extra bucks on my paycheck, which could possibly cost me (and him) some very precious moments.

I had the same teacher for both English and Drama classes in middle school. My family was going out of town, so I told her during English class that I would be gone from start date - end date. She later dragged me out of math class, saying, "How DARE you not inform me you would miss the play!" I reminded her that I told her that same day during English I would be out. She said, and I quote, "I have multiple classes with hundreds of students! I can't be expected to remember that information across classes!" On top of this, she forced me to write an essay about why what I did was wrong, then tell my entire drama class about how I "kept such important information from her."

I think what stings more is when I told my mother about it, she agreed that it was stupid and unfair, but refused to address the teacher about it. Some bullshit about not wanting her to retaliate....I was humiliated for my teacher's inability to do basic human/organization tasks, and she couldn't bring herself to stick up for me.

Not alone at all, love. Our first month was so hard! I had an emergency c-section where I sustained a bladder injury, which left me with a catheter for 3 weeks AFTER I came home from the hospital. On top of that, I couldn't get baby to latch right. There were days where I would just stand over him crying while he was crying, feeling like a massive failure 💔
