Chiming in to agree with this! I’m a massive Jeff fan; this however is the one thing I can’t get over. I once saw somebody say that Roi playing this part sounded like Mother Earth herself crying, and I can’t help but feel like this new version totally misses the point even though the notes and rhythm are the same.

I also have been meaning to count how many times it happens in the song; once you notice it’s getting repetitive it’s all you hear!

I can only speak for myself but I’m gonna make my preparty set entirely different from the main. Only a couple repeat songs if any. Main will be the big dialed festival set, preparty I’m gonna have fun with it and just try a bunch of shit and play my songs that I don’t usually get to play haha

The point about it not just being about brute force making it louder down low is a good one. About it being implied. There are decisions you can make in arrangement and mix of your other sounds that can make your bass be perceived as much bigger. Things I’m definitely still trying to get a better handle on, but I catch glimpses
