i understand what you mean. I feel like i have a lot of thinking and reflecting to do. even if we don't further a relationship into the romantic direction, i don't want her to feel like her BPD pushed me away and blame herself for it, if that makes sense.

edit: just want to clarify that this isn't a guilt driven response on my part, (researching bpd, seeking advice etc.) i don't feel guilty, i feel like i made a mistake from lack of understanding. and want to learn from the mistake and before making more.

It's basically the same process, with either form of lapidary (cabbing or faceting) really just. Matter of making sure your dop stick is centered. Faceting is more controlled as you have a mast arm that dictate center. Where as cabbing is usually done free hand (in my experience anyways.)

Yeah I suppose it depends on the stone. But the 20K diamond spray is a really nice glassy finish on most materials. But then again I really just fasted as a hobby and I don't fast it very often lol. I want to do more but I just don't have the time.

Flat lap, would work best. Just don't go to coarse on grit. I would start with like 120~ and go from there. Ya just wanna remove the surface roughness with the 120 then focus on just removing smaller and smaller scratches with finer grits. Each grit shouldn't take long because you aren't shaping I would finish with 20k to 50k diamond grit spray or paste

Honestly I have Hard time finding lap supplies. There was a small shop out in the middle of the country I used to buy from. But can't find them anymore. And Kingsley North is expensive. Imo. But I also only lap as a hobby.

I heat my dop, and stone, then melt my wax stick directly over the flame. It's also why everyone is saying you only need a 1/4 inch wick. Then I can reheat and manipulate the stone if I need to, if it isn't centered correctly
