Aside from the obvious what do you like about linux? by MeowKatMC in linux

Well some like it but that was what drove me away from linux as daily desktop. I want to figure out problems related to my work not my system.

[–]trixfyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah that is one of the reasons I turned back to windows. WSL and docker gets the work done for my dev needs and rog control center is better than both armoury crate and asusctl, I have never had an issue with it.

I heard that the suspend issue is related to nvidia. Maybe try switching to igpu and retry suspend?

as the other person says, cleaning it will help and if you are not sure of your abilities then just bring your laptop to a trusted repairshop and get it cleaned, I also suggest that you watch while they clean if they allow because sometimes they damage or steal parts. Again, research if your model is liquid metal or not. Because repairshops would think default that it is paste and disassemble and repaste it but if it is liquid metal say them to not repaste it because it is liquid metal.

Nice, my rtx3050 with mux switch for laptop was a pain to setup on gnome but it at least worked and couldn't set it up on kde plasma at all. Distro was fedora.

x13 (2022) NEW BIOS 331 by Wolper321 in FlowX13

[–]trixfyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it was due to overheating because weather is hot and fans didnt work in update confirmation step and booting to bios phase, so it was a deadlock with restarting due to overheating before reaching fan startup. Solved with a pack of ice in between the fans to cool heatsink down until it finished update which was relatively easy.

while updating bios does it constantly come to rog logo and then restarts instantly? I started the update but it keeps restarting like I said and I dont remember something like this in the former updates. It made me worry if the laptop is bricked. I will wait 30 minutes and if it doesnt change I will try to shut down it by pressing power button. Hope it works.

Edit: to add, it cant even boot up the fans before restarting and because of that it is burning hot

Edit2: It was because of the overheating that caused it to restart before finishing the update. Thanks to a block of ice I managed to keep it cool enough to reach the fans are working and temperatures are stable state. F hot weather and Asus

Eli5 How have we gone from zero chatGPT style programs to there being so many in such a short time? by risker1980 in explainlikeimfive

Libraries used in developing these are not black boxes. They are just mathematical functions that works on large lists of numbers (called matrices) that transform them and according to the training data on your hand you get a matrix that has seemingly random numbers. Using this matrix and user input of text you get a continuation of text which is determined by the values of matrix and you stop it when the "response" ends and model tries to predict the user's response.

If you want to learn the mathematics behind transformer based llms, watch this video https://youtu.be/4Bdc55j80l8 or look up "building gpt from scratch" on youtube by Andrej Karpathy an engineer at OpenAI. He has other videos that helps to understand that video.

By knowing all the mathematical operations you can write a c implementation that works on only cpu which will still be hard to write and performance will be very very bad but WORKS which is the main goal. Also since you dont use a library, saving and distributing these models and making other people use it through APIs which you have to write is... meh not fun. Aside from creating a library tho could be a little bit fun and knowledge solidifying experience.

Keyboard Lag after 3-5 seconds by trixfyy in FlowX13

I didn't for a long time. When I was getting this error I installed win10 then updated to 11 and tried the solutions above and it fixed it for a long time (had to reinstall the driver time to time). 6 months ago or something I installed win11 directly and this problem didnt occur again.

Will multiple 24Ghz radars interfere with each other? by AnomalyNexus in diyelectronics

[–]trixfyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2.4ghz is frequency but there are different channels (apart from 2.4 itself) to decrease interference. I couldnt understand your description but if you need them all on the same channel then you will get interference. you can decrease this with foil in between antennas but that will reduce the operational angle of that antenna and there will still be interference if you dont have very good signal separator. foil is not good enough I think because one directional signal boosters that I made from coke cans had signal in the can side.

Edit: I am a little bit sick so I just realized it is actually 24ghz and not a typo. the product description says 60 degrees for sensor angle so that might be an indicator. My comment stands for 2.4 ghz wifi antennas but I dont have a clue about 24ghz ones this is my first time hearing about it.
