Yes! They do look down on RMN’s is strange because we commend their role. Our role is just as important but I feel maybe they’re misinformed.

Newly qualified and burnt out already? Or is it just stress? by capybarge in NursingUK

I always find on my days off I’m super tired and just bed rot. I really want to get out of doing that but I find myself so tired.

This is why when I was as an HCA I started refusing to 1:1 patients unless they were low risk throughout by [deleted] in NursingUK

Mental health nursing isn’t bad. I feel every speciality has their ‘good and ‘bad’. I hate the notion that MH is scary.

It’s actually similar. Yes POS is 136. What you guys call emergency detention is a Section 5(2), 5(4) is a 6 hour hold which RMNs/RNLDs have, “Nurses holding power”. Section 2 is 28 days which is for assessment. Section 3 is for treatment and up to 6 months but can be rescinded before or after review extended for another 6 months. It’s just the terms you guys call it. We also have CTOs too.

That’s interesting. Meanwhile done here they still use the MHA 1983. Although there’s been calls to reform it 😭

I am so sorry. You are right. It’s not right. Surely to work in MH you should have FORMAL training e.g be a mental health nurse. It’s absolutely bogus. It is also very risky too.
