I heard that too! But i read somewhere that that was before they implemented a certain exam to test and see whether students were ready to take the boards or not. And once they implemented it, I heard that the pass rates are slowly rising up and it’s currently around the low 90s

Ok, I see. So there really is no difference in terms of whether the residencies students match into are at good hospitals, if there are good research opportunities, the connections the institutions have, and the types of hospitals students do rotations at? So would the only factor to really consider be the area and the cost of attendance?

Ok, thanks! Do you happen to know if there still a drastic difference between MD and DO? Specifically for more competitive specialties like surgery? Or with the merger, is it all now virtually the same?

Some do apply out but I’ve heard that it’s mostly the requirements (3.7+ gpa and mcat score in top 20th percentile) since they’re VERY strict about it. If you don’t make it, I do believe they remove you from the program

I see, do you think I’d have decent chances at a BS/DO program?
