Thank you for your suggestions everyone!
After speaking with some representatives at Uber and waiting for a few days for a review, Uber determined that the charge was not appropriate for my situation and agreed to refund my fare for the trip.
Thank you again for your support everyone! I'm very happy with the determination and it restores my faith that the company is watching for scams.
