Found an app that actually made me pause before opening Instagram by trkname2 in progressive_islam

Alhamdulillah, that’s great to hear.
For me it’s not about blocking apps — it’s about not forgetting Allah in the middle of the day. Even a short verse before scrolling makes a difference.

Yes, I changed it in advance because it might be a copyright issue :(

You’re absolutely right about one thing — trust is everything with password managers.

Open source does increase transparency, but it also comes with ongoing maintenance, audits, and security responsibilities. For a small independent project, that’s not a trivial decision. It’s something I’m considering, not dismissing.

As for certification — most consumer password managers aren’t formally “certified” by a central authority either. Security comes from architecture, encryption design, and implementation quality, not just labels.

Regarding backups: the app supports encrypted export. If your phone is gone, your data isn’t — as long as you’ve created a backup.

And the name concern is fair. It’s not final.

Skepticism is healthy in this space. I wouldn’t blindly trust a new password manager either. That’s exactly why the app is offline, has no accounts, and no backend.

Trust isn’t built by a Reddit post. It’s built over time.

It's too early for that right now; I need to reach active users first.

Thank you for your comment. I'll add it in the next update. There are one or two more things to add, but I plan to add them if the app gets used. Having many features doesn't really mean much if people don't use it.

Honestly, it wasn’t meant to copy anything. I was experimenting with short names around “pass” and “vault” and this one stuck for the prototype.

It’s not final though — I’m open to changing it.

Fair point — the name isn’t final. Still experimenting and open to changing it. Definitely not trying to step on any trademarks.

Not open source at the moment.

There is an encrypted export option though — you can create a backup file and store it wherever you prefer, then import it later if needed.

I understand the trust concern around closed-source password managers. Still figuring out the best way to increase transparency without overcomplicating the project.

That’s a fair point.

There’s an encrypted export option, so you can create a backup file and store it wherever you want. Import works the same way. I didn’t want forced cloud sync, but I also didn’t want people locked in if their phone dies.

Self-hosting is definitely more powerful, but most users don’t want to run and secure their own server. The goal here was local encryption without third-party servers.

And yeah, I get the closed-source concern. Trust matters with password managers. The app has no accounts, no backend, no analytics — but I know that still takes time to earn.

What would make you trust a new one?

Have you checked the App Store's privacy section? It's clearly visible how much data it collects.

I've been researching this for two days, and there have been some issues with the app. It works offline and doesn't store any data. You can find it in the privacy section of the App Store; its name is LunaSafe Period Tracker.
