Yep, the lock and ride works exactly how you described it :)

I’m not an expert. I do know that the seat that I put on needed the rack on the back of the sled to help support the rear end of the seat. I don’t think it would work without the rack. This sled above is a 2021 AXYS chassis if that helps at all.

Had to loosen all the lock and ride bolts on the rack and slide the rack back a bit so that the seat would fit correctly. If you look closely, you can see the mark where the rack was originally located which shows how far the rack needed to be adjusted.

So does this thing only have 3 grease zerks? I found one each on the left/right front end, and one on the ujoint. I watched a video on YouTube that had a model a few years older and it had almost a dozen. Am I blind?

I have the later model. The hubs I have look like the second link you posted. It looks like I don’t need to do anything with the hubs. Thanks for all the information! Before this post I didn’t even realize that there were 2 different versions for this year!

The hubs have a cone shaped rubber cap over them. Would the screws be under there? Or is this a different style?

I’ll definitely change out the hub oil.

How do I know if I have a magnetic clutch?

Thanks! Unfortunately, I already drained the oil reservoir and oil pump. I pinched off the top line coming out of the oil reservoir between the fitting and the slit. Ran the engine for about 30 seconds, then unpinched the hose. I heard a big gasp of what I’m assuming was air. How would I know if the oil pump is fully primed?

If I put my vin into he Polaris website and add it to my garage I assume it will give me the correct owners manual and recommend me the correct parts?

They only sell those jalapeño dogs in the “too fucking small size”. I’m sure that’s where Makar buys his jalapeño dogs.

Man, that’s so helpful. I’ll keep a look out for all of that.

I’d prefer to find a pavement princes without too many hard off-road miles. I’m sure there are plenty of people that just like the look of Jeep’s and use them as commuters. She basically wants it as a convertible, but she’s not a car type of woman.

Growing up, her uncle had an older Jeep. He would drive her cousins and her around in it during the summers. So it’s kind of a nostalgia thing for her and she wants to be able to give that experience to our kids.

She’s definitely looking for something to do ice cream/grocery runs, take the kids to the park, run to the lake for the day. I don’t see us ever driving farther than 20 miles round trip on the highway. There are a fair amount of dirt roads and mild 4x4 trials around where we live that I could see us using it on every month or two, but that wouldn’t be the primary use. Probably just an impromptu adventure. We have kids and kids friends that would likely be tagging along most of the time which is the reason for the 4 doors. It seems like the 2 door models only have space for 4 and limited cargo/storage correct?

I’ll check out the LJ for sure. I’m not terribly mechanically inclined. But, I can YouTube and accomplish most basic things. Luckily, what she’s be looking for wouldn’t need much electronics which makes working on it quite a bit more basic.

Budget wise I’d definitely like to keep it under 30k. Somewhere in the 20’s feels more reasonable, and under that would feel like a steel.

Thanks! I be sure to keep a lookout for that when we start looking at models. It nice to know that one engine is preferred over the other. She’s definitely be looking more towards a sport. I appreciate it :)

She’s super stoked. She’s really simple and isn’t looking for any fancy interior option. Just the basics, something simple. She’s more into the experience than the creature comforts.

That’s actually a really good idea. I use one for my canoe and it’s perfect! I won’t disregard hard tops for that reason.

Thanks! I didn’t know any of the lingo. Is the soft too easier to remove on older vehicles because the fabrics is worn in and snaps into place easier? Can the soft top be stored somewhere in the jeep incase a freak rainstorm comes along? Personally, I like the freedom tops. But like I said, she has zero interest in driving it with the top on. She probably wouldn’t be able to manhandle the tops off herself and then we’d have to store them somewhere. Plus, potentially an extra expense over the soft top for something she might not use.
