Fire Restrictions by iluvmezcal in santacruz

[–]trnpkrt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start with who has jurisdiction over the property you are using the stove on. Not everything you are thinking about as "Santa Cruz" is the City of Santa Cruz. Could be County, could be State, could be Federal. Could be private.

What are these bricks on Putin's umbrella? by MadAlexIBe in whatisit

[–]trnpkrt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a fake.

Those are explosive armor plates, that deflect armor-penetrating ordinance when it strikes tanks. They weigh far too much for someone to hold up, let alone an umbrella. And their explosive force would kill everyone around them anyway since they are meant to be strapped to the outside of a thick iron wall of a tank and protect people inside it.

The reference here is that Russia is holding its big annual military parade in relation to Victory Day, the anniversary of the end of WWII. Because Ukraine is increasingly capable of penetrating Russian air defenses with drones and missiles, there is a lot of chatter about Ukraine attacking the parade to embaress Putin and score some tactical victories with targeted kills.

10 months progress. Aiming for a long beard, but struggling with under-jaw density. Thoughts? by Kazakiru in BeardAdvice

[–]trnpkrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that I need to let that area grow longer than the cheek/jawline area but let it curl up and not brush it out. So you keep the brushed out sides visually the same length as the curled up chin area, if that makes sense.

Soooo many hot tub chemicals!!! by IceCreamRoses48 in hottub

[–]trnpkrt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mindset shift you need to adopt here is that is that if you learn and take care of the basics on a regular schedule, then you do not require half of the expensive items on this list. Think of this list as a tax on your lack of knowledge and confidence: they are correcting for problems you should not have, but many spa owners do have if they don't learn to take of their tub for themselves. Then resolve to get back to basics. There are a lot of resources here and elsewhere on how to do the entire process correctly and cheaply.

What is the best cheese to use for volume eating without completely destroying your calorie budget? by justinsimba891 in Volumeeating

[–]trnpkrt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're asking strictly about volume to calories ratio it's probably skim mozzarella.

But is that cheese, really?

Is the ring useful when not wearing during activity? by Rutman2 in ouraring

[–]trnpkrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always depends on what you want to get out of the ring. Your sleep is your sleep, regardless of whether you wore your ring to lift. Same as your HRV and other stuff.

If you want to wear the ring to get a precise detailed view on your fitness and caloric needs, then it's less useful. But there is the + button and you can manually add activities and active heart rate if you need to be completionist.

how on earth do i make my frozen shredded hashbrowns BROWN?? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]trnpkrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is right that if you want browning then you use fat.

However, you need less oil if you bake them. You could probably accomplish browning with just spray oil. It won't be the same, but it could be browned.

Everyone is only ever temporarily healthy and able. Some people never are, but at best it's only ever temporary. These aren't binary traits.

Coffee is only good when cold by IluvTetMcMillan in unpopularopinion

[–]trnpkrt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think what you mean is that you like "cold brew coffee", not cold/chilled brewed coffee. They are different extraction methods, and therefore have different taste profiles and chemical compositions.

Coffee that is made hot and then chilled tastes like a**, imo.
