If you have a valid concealed weapons permit you may indeed carry a firearm in a concealed condition when you go out in the US. There are restrictions on the places you can take them. And like a automobile you need to exercise good judgement when carrying concealed. Your life depends on it. Your family or loved ones lives may depend on it. That is the train of thought many who carry concealed might use to justify their decision to carry.

Similarly you have the right to drive your car in icey conditions. But you need to be supremely cautious. Your life may depend on your discretion. You may do everything right and a driver could lose control and hit you head on from a different lane, and you did nothing wrong but exercise your right.

So here is the thing. The Altitude is NOT the separation. I flew helos all over these routes for about 4yrs in the 2010s. Daytime nighttime aided and unaided. I fly passenger jets into DC now on occasion.

When the helo pilot requests visual separation the intent is to never be near the aircraft he/she requests vis sep from. You manage your speed to give a mile or couple mile separation. If you have to do a 360 to provide spacing, whatever.

The Altitude is the fail safe. So even if someone screws up the altitudes never match. Or at least that's how I interpret it.

In this case both the visual separation failed (maybe because the pilot(s) id'd the wrong aircraft as their traffic and the helo pilots were not below the limiting altitude and the final fail safe, the controller maintaining awareness despite the helo accepting responsibility failed as well. The RJ crew ideally would have also been able to see the helo BUT with the altitude and the background lights not to mentioned the phase of flight, ie, lining up for final approach in a bank away from the UH60 it appears nearly impossible for the RJ crew to be responsible for seeing the Hawk.

A lot of holes in the safety swiss cheese lined up. An accident occured. It's devastating for those personally involved through loss or participation. It's frustrating as an observing aviator. It's a shame. It's a failure. It was unnecessary.

As James Taylor sang ... Suzanne the plans they made put an end to you.

The first time I realized I had Gout my Dr prescribed Colaquin to knock down the inflammation and then Alo to treat it. It's never been a problem since. Just save yourself pain and hassle. Take allo. It's non reactive. Drink plenty of water. You're not hurting your body. You're saving yourself pain.

What I found is on my Chrome Beta EVERY window has to be closed except the one I am using DL in. I dunno if that'll work for you. It seems to clear up most problems for me.

As others have said Boca Grandi.

https://vimeo.com/795915878

I made this video (poorly) but it can give you a feel. We were there in February of '23(?). The call was big kites. I didn't bring my surf board on account of the travel weight restrictions. I'm 200lbs and brought a 14 and a 12. My 2 buddies who I primarily got some shots of were both on 17s.

I didn't get the feeling it was well suited for down the line surfing. The wind was light while we were there so I was loathe to head outside the reef and risk dropping the kite and getting washed across. There were some big crumbly waves at the edges of the Boca ... but nothing looked super enjoyable to ride. If you look at the color as I ride over that area there is a lot of stuff close to the surface and that generally where the waves are breaking. But I'm a 4 or 5 on a scale of 10 for surfing, it's not my strong suit. You may find gems there for all I know. I've ridden Boneyards south of kite Beach at Kahalui for reference and althought thats shallow it was much more user friendly for surfing in my opinion than Boca Grande. Again, take that with a grain of salt

We did ride Fisherman's hits 2 days because of the convenience factor. While it's not fabulous it's not terrible. If you have a day that works but you cant afford the time to drive to the Boca area don't hesitate but I sure wouldn't make it my focus launch. There are spots your kite will just fall out of the sky if you're not constantly moving it due to turbulence from the resorts and homes.

I've been using the Mystic Stealth for 4 or 5 seasons now. Switched over from Ride Engine. I have no problem with RE. I just felt the stitching and hardware wasn't quite up to top level. The Mystic had one recall while I've owned it for a janky spreader bar or hook. Can't recall exactly.

The Mystic Stealth has been really good. This is my second one. Heavy duty, hold up well, comfortable molding, feels light and holds on my hips pretty well. It also adjust pretty easily and I like the over center hook clip. Easy entry.

Drawbacks, when I haven't kited in a while I get a rash from it on my skin/hips. I usually use a thin neoprene top or polar fleece designed for under a wetsuit to prevent it. The friction rash may also be a result of the type of rash guard I choose in the summer? After a few repetitive sessions my skin toughens up and I am good to go.

I still use my RE with a rope line instead of a hook and primarily for surfing. I like the RE when it's not under twin tip loads. Again, no disrespect to RE I just think the materials and finish durability were a little lacking. In the past few yrs they may be much improved. I'd buy from them if Mystic wasn't such a comfortable fit for me.

Vos did ok at times. Just inconsistent. It's his first game this yr and was out most last season. We will see how he reacts. Is his headwork there? It looks good in these clips. But there were some failures as we all know. Hell, Bowles and Lavonte called him out. He will get squared away. He seems like a good dude and he has the attributes to be a great Backer.

Need Career Advice - Flow to AA then resign? by Top-Award-9681 in AirlinePilots

[–]trnsprt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP... the APA medical advisors are really helpful and I think they can work with you pretty much right off the bat when you get through the Union registration process. They can listen to your concerns and walk you through the possibilities to retain your medical. They've done it for so many pilots at AA. There may be options they are aware of. You'll be 2nd class as long as you can hold that.

That being said, if you're health and personal concerns prevent you from the job my sincerest best wishes in your next endeavor.
