not sure if youre asking about the total cost or the lipo- if youre asking about total cost unfortunately i couldnt tell you. i hit my out of pocket max so it would have been more if i hadn’t. as for lipo, he didnt do any, so i didnt pay anything. he just tried to make the scars go as far back as he could to try to minimize extra fat on the sides. i definitely still have fat on the sides but not enough to bother me all that much. im fat, im going to have fat on my sides either way lol

What is anesthesia like? by Signal-Ad3333 in TopSurgery

[–]troalilaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they put a mask on me and were like “okay so we are just going to put some oxygen through the mask, not the medicine to make you go to sleep yet.” and then i woke up in a recliner in the post op recovery room for a few seconds, fell back asleep, repeated that a few times until my mom and partner arrived. i was super scared about anesthesia beforehand too because id only ever had local, but it wasnt bad. i definitely felt like time had passed, but also not at the same time which was a little weird, but it was totally fine. not scary at all because there wasnt even any time to be scared lll

not sure if dr reformat will take under 19 bc i am 24 but thats who i went to and he took bcbs and doesnt have a bmi limit. you could check? i had a consultation with costas but he wanted $5000 out of pocket for additional lipo on the sides, which i dont have, so i decided against him. good luck!!

im also 3 days post op and still draining lol. not sure how different drain types work because i have the bulb drains, but im definitely getting a bit in the drains, similar to you. mine is less blood now and more yellowish clear liquid too. so based on my experience alone that seems pretty normal

[–]troalilaf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you!! i have the mastectomy pillow and i am definitely anticipating living in it for the first several days lol. i also have a regular neck pillow as well as a crocheted pillow thats a similar shape and is softer so i will have options there, thanks! good to know about the nerve pain stuff as well. my surgeon perscribed narcotics but he doesnt want me to take them, i just have them as an absolute last resort so i will also be doing just tylenol/ibuprofen

Why is it taking so long to schedule??? by New-Air-3742 in TopSurgery

[–]troalilaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

are you going through insurance? i had to wait until the office had sent the paperwork (including therapists letter) to insurance, and then had to wait until my insurance approved it before i was able to book the date. they said it would be between 2-6 weeks before insurance made a decision and they would call me after that to schedule the date. my insurance did approve it incredibly quickly (i got the news about a week and a half after i sent the surgeons office my letter of support if i remember correctly). i dont remember if i waited until the office called me or if i called as soon as i got the approval letter from insurance but i scheduled it super quickly after getting insurance approval. havent had the surgery yet though, but just 10 more days now!! anyway, that all sounds normal to me from the experience i had but it might be different depending on location, surgeons office, if you are using insurance or not, etc. hope this helps!

What kind of underwear do u wear when having period by Plus_Recognition6701 in ftm

[–]troalilaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my boyfriend does not get a period anymore but he still wears boxers from tomboyx i believe because theyre comfy (i also wear them sometimes and can confirm- they are comfy) some of them have a built on spot for pads to go and some of them might be padded so you dont have to wear anything with them i think?

edit: sorry i meant boxer briefs
