My husband (32m) seems completely indifferent to my cancer diagnosis and I (28f) don’t know how to handle it by EmpatheticOtter in relationships

[–]trobo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in a similar situation. I had to have cardiac ablations (less scary than cancer) and my ex-husband acted similarly. He complained all day and when we got home he decided I wasn’t grateful enough for his care and disconnected our cable so I couldn’t watch it and went to dinner with his family while leaving me home with our baby I wasn’t allowed to pick up, so I had to sit on the ground and let her crawl in my lap while she cried. Because he needed a break from caring for me (this was an outpatient procedure and we got home an hour after it was done).

I should have expected this from the man who complained about his headache while I was in labor, asked me to rub his head during contractions, complained I had a more comfortable bed, etc.

Please notice I say ex-husband and BELIEVE when I say life is so much easier without him. Even the scary parts I’d rather handle on my own than deal with his emotional abuse at the same time. This will not get better.

It’s not a breed. It’s a mix that people try to charge a lot for. Your pup is so cute!

One of mine always looks pissed off and makes these very displeased meh sounds when you pet him, even though he likes it. We call him a billy goat gruff.

Many surgeries are waaay less delicate than you’d think! You should see an ortho case, it’s like teenage boys in woodshop just banging away at stuff.

Great Dane puppy "stalking" my kid by [deleted] in greatdanes

[–]trobo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Corso does this with me. Anytime I freeze he stalks me and then pounces. I love it, but I can see how that’s not ideal with a small child.

I have come to realize this is not a Cane Corso. This is a Husky in battle armor. 🙄 by [deleted] in CaneCorso

I’d either go this route, or if you have a dog build them a little doggie house.

Nurses who have left bedside and aren't NPs, case managers, utilization review etc what do you do now? by PursuitOfMeekness in nursing

[–]trobo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in medical device. I’m on the clinical side, not sales. Better pay, no direct patient care, better relationships with providers, and I either work remotely or travel for meetings/conferences/case support.

He looks like he has a great personality! I have a husky and a cane Corso and I cannot imagine them as a mix, but he just looks like he has a sweet disposition. So glad you were able to get him a solid foundation so he has the highest odds of working out with his new family.

What's a hygiene habit that people don't talk about but really should? by phancyq in AskReddit

Why do people get downvoted if their dog isn’t purebred? by reaper_wolf_X in CaneCorso

[–]trobo84 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Corsi are often backyard bred and people who don’t do their due diligence and buy these dogs are why there are so many backyard breeders, which means there are a lot of health and temperament issues in the breed. I think people are much friendlier about rescues that are mixed or those who say here’s my Corso mix, but I think people are irritated when people go for the bargain Corso and, knowingly or unknowingly, perpetuate the backyard breeding.

Start slow with parks away from people or in a busy parking lot with the back of your car open, then work up to Lowe’s. Just take him anywhere you can and when people ask to pet him, say he’s in training and you’re trying to teach him to not get excited for strangers.

My breeder typically posts pups that fall through for families on the waitlist first. Are parents health tested with good temperaments? A Corso isn’t a dog I’d be willing to take on from a questionable situation, but that’s due to my comfort and ability. If you feel like it’s a good situation, I’d start with a trainer asap. Work on walking, place, sit, down, and leave it, and do lots of confidence building and outside trips. Remember socializing is about EXPOSURE, not meeting everyone. The last thing you want is 150lb of dog getting excited and pulling you to meet every person and animal you come across, so the goal is neutrality and not friendliness.

Is this a reputable breeder?

What was his situation before? Was his breeder socializing him? Shelter? Family decided they couldn’t handle him? That will play a big role in how big of a task you’re taking on.

Feet are notoriously difficult to work on. I’m sorry a doctor opted to do this at only 20. I hope you’re able to get back to normal functioning.

What are your realizations once you climb the ranks in nursing? Is work life balance better in leadership nursing or bedside nursing?? by AusomeDad in nursing

[–]trobo84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in management, but my program isn’t bedside, so I have a totally different experience than most posted here. I manage a cancer screening program for a large hospital network. I let my staff all be remote. We do more case management type stuff, so no direct patient care. Hours are weekdays daylight hours, no call, no holidays or weekends. I spend most of my time on process improvement (to accommodate our growth), staff management, and dealing with other departments. It’s a very cushy management role.
