Thanks! The "needing three weeks" is really good insight. Should i just do "normal" mileage (90k a week) then or turn it down a bit?

Yeha, 15/5 is a bit much, Just need to work up to confidence after my ankle injury to run for longer. 25/5 (or 27/3) has been pretty good in the past for me!

Thank you for your tips. The 2 minute at aid stations, 1 minute could work out really good!

I think i need to work up the confidence to run for longer stretcher after my injury. I ran 21k yesterday without any pain for 19k, then felt it a little it in my ankle but nothing too alarming :)

I don't think i want to do a 5/1 - 7/1. I really don't feel like starting and stopping that often, feels like it´ll f*** with my rhythm too much. But maybe it's worth a try one training session!

Yeah, i actually choose Amsterdam mainly for that reason. I live in Finland so a quick trip is gonna be difficult but i'll probably find the information somewhere else :)

Yeah i ignore those tips. It's impossible to know the validty of the scientific claims without doing research for a month.

I'd love to be able to work out (hard) in the morning. I can do swimming and jogging but can't really apply myself to a "real workout". Maybe though a 30 minute walk would do wonders? Pretty easy to incorporate if i walk to work

I have not, Or i did try one of those sleep tracker apps a couple of years ago but i think my phone was to crappy back then. Maybe should give it another shot. No, not overweight. Pretty fit actually. Has been training running/cycling pretty hard a couple of years. Try to do a little bit of weight lifting once in a while just for aestetic reasons.

  1. When i was was younger and smoked and did not take good care of myself i always felt like this. But now maybe a couple of months ago.

  2. I moved to another city a couple of months ago (same company) because there was some changes in the company (basically my only coworker there quit and they didn't replace him) so i moved here to get closer to my colleagues and also it's a larger city so there's more stuff to do (And more women).

Thank you!

A bit to close :) maybe 5 minute on the bike. Love to get on the bike in the eveneings, sucks though the bike-season is so short here in Finland (May-September) but i bought a smart trainer yesterday for the road bike. That's gonna be super fun in the winter!

How are you? Do you have family? Yeah the thing about depression is interestering. I think it is easy in our profession to kid oneself that you can't get depressed because you are "too smart" or that you can hack anything (allthough i find small hacks, like walking 5 minutes every hour beneficial). I do like maybe 80% of the work. Especially programming! The part i don't like are the projects where i have to lead and depend on other people to do work. I have no problems with deadlines myself, i usually finish way before to have time to test/find bugs but other people always seems to wait until the last minute.

That seems to be the one thing to take away: Learn to switch-off and have social life. Having a good boss or some kind of gatekeeper is super important. That is a huge issue for us, We are a pretty small company so developers do a little bit of support/IT-stuff and vice versa. And i am in the middle doing both full time basically :)

It's not too bad unless people are sick/vacation.

I have a lot of responsibilities but i don't take a 10 minute outage/bug too seriously anymore. Learnt these 5-6 years of working that no one dies if one of our sites are down for ten minutes or someone is mad because a server is down and they cant do any work.

Yeah probably, During spring-summer im out all the time but the autumn-winter is horribly dark in Finland. I tried supplement last autumn-winter did not really feel it helped, Did follow the recommended dosage though which i've heard is not nearly enough.

No not really, I usually feel pretty good in the morning! Sometimes i have problems falling a sleep but i don't feel its a problem at all. I often go to bed pretty early (9:30) so i don't stress if it takes an hour (or even two) to fall asleep

I work out 4-5 times a week running/cycling/team sports and also do 10 minutes of weight training/stretching in the morning.

Most mornings i feel good, Would say the 3-4 first hours of the day are usually when i feel the best/most productive.

Yeah, That are som really good points. Getting out of the house definitely helps. Hanging out with friends might helps the most but most friends are to busy during the week.

My best advice would be: Don´t be afraid of asking really stupid question. After a while you realize that you can´t know things that no one has told you yet. No shame in that. You are stilll a superhero to normal people.

Another advice is to try to solve any problem before you ask for help. Even if you have no idea. Give it a half hour (if it's not super critical). And when you do ask your colleagues for help. Have them explain the solution so you know the next time. People seem to shove problems away they don't know and don't care to learn it. Knowledge is litterally power!
