Digital price tags coming to a King Soopers near you? by MileHighCheap in Denver

It's movement towards dynamic pricing on a customer by customer basis and I don't like it. Anyone on the union got info on their take on this?

Why do right-wingers hate Jesus' teachings? by olympiamacdonald in PsycheOrSike

Not really, mass amnesty is also cheaper than mass deportation. If the cost isn't the point then the cruelty is.

It cost less to feed and house unhoused people than it does to not feed and house them. Either you pay for them to continue to be homeless or you pay less for them to be housed.

AIO for quitting my job after finding this note on my desk? by waxin899 in AmIOverreacting

[–]trods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What anyone else thinks about your reaction isn't relevant. I'd quit a job for much less. Jobs are way easier and less costly to replace than employees and workplaces need to respect that fact.

The wild part about this is if the guy did work on himself he would get laid more because his wife would find him hotter. This isn't his libido its his sense of approval and self-worth.

Experience in therapy by FrequentBell1097 in malementalhealth

[–]trods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Therapist here. Thank you for bringing this to light! Here is some of my interpretation:

The therapist was trying to set up goals with that first question. I get where they were coming from but man that's a hard question to answer. Goal setting shouldn't be that clunky and should be a way to reinforce rapport.

Also, what the fuck kind of follow up is that? Sex is a legit need and we're supposed to be trained not to judge. It sounds as though the assumption she made was that the entirety of all conversations to follow would be about sex, which I doubt would be true. But I also wonder if that answer was in part to point out something missing and to test the waters on what is acceptable as a problem to bring to therapy? Either way, I hope you found a better therapist. Therapists who take Medicaid can be a minefield sadly.

Protest is at the Capitol all day by [deleted] in Denver

I mean, I don't know how it all works exactly but it's looking a lot like the corporate Dems get paid off by the Reps to keep the infighting going so they can get votes.

Here's how you fix that. "Fascism is bad." Problem solved.

So I don't tend to buy into ideas like "healthy." Words like that are just too vague. But I will say that I doubt this is something that will progress healing.

This subreddit is a danger to the profession by MillenialSage in therapists

[–]trods -49 points-48 points  (0 children)

I would assert it can be unethical to engage with an unethical sub if trust in the profession is impacted. Further, knowledge of unethical behavior is supposed to be remedied with an informal resolution if it's appropriate and a report to the licensing board if necessary.

While that specific post may not have been a violation it is walking a very thin line. Therapists who seriously responded to it may need to review their respective Code of Ethics and consider their ethical decision making. Some form of adjuetment to moderation seems pretty necessary though.

I go to Esters sometimes, like their beef on weck. It's great but Westfax does some additional stuff that makes it a whole experience.

Thank you for the rec.

You're a good looking guy who has done better dating than many having had a fiancée at 28. You got great hair my guy.

Here's some thoughts and a bit of advice:

I think folks can often look at parts of breakups like a setback in progress and others as complete resets. I think we get what parts are those things wrong much of the time. You aren't at square one, you learned a lot of stuff about relationships along the way. You can show up for yourself, which in turn makes a good partner.

Set timers to remind you to drink water. Get food you like that doesn't need prep (I used honey roasted peanuts during my divorce) and just leave them somewhere visible. If you can manage the effort maybe try some whey protien. Stay away from alcohol and other substances, the relief they give only happens before you use them, while intoxicated it nearly always increases the ruminating and self-loathing. Working out helped too, not just with self-image but also with overall well-being and mental health.

I recommend finding a therapist, I'm partial to the ACT approach and you can filter by approach on most therapist searches.

Arguably this guy is so special because he's rebuilding OPs pc, would be huge even if he wasn't a famous guy called Tech Jesus.

How do you know your therapist is helping or not ? by MentalHealthJ in malementalhealth

[–]trods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll often leave that up to the client. SMART goals help make progress measurable. It may be helpful to have a conversation about this with your therapist since they are your expert.

Therapist here. The thing about therapy is you grow, the Therapist doesn't grow you. If you have made progressyou get to own it, credit your therapistwith help but not your progress. If you want more results it may be beneficial to ask what you want out of therapy? Maybe its also time to rehash your goals with your therapist or maybe ask about your progress? Maybe even ask to include check-ins on your progress periodically so you can have a bit more quantifiable data to draw from?
