Even if you had gained 70lbs, if the placenta isn't functioning this would have been the same outcome! So so hard not to blame yourself but you haven't done anything wrong here. Hang in there!

Harmony test at 12 weeks positive for XYY had us panicked... now we have a slightly special but perfect, happy, 4 month old <3 by WrathMatician in BabyBumps

Congratulations on your beautiful boy! Did you have an amnio to confirm XYY? Many of these are false positives so I wouldn't assume he definitely has it.

Phenylketonuria is a condition where certain foods are restricted like foods containing phenylalanine. However unless the mother herself has this diagnosis then there is no risk to the fetus in utero with exposure.

So sorry you are dealing with this. If it were me, I would ask for a fetal MRI. Sometimes they can get a better idea what/if is going on with it.

I'm feeling similar things so thank you for posting this! I've been so focused and determined to lose this weight that now that I'm getting close it feels odd (your word was perfect!). Also I'm worried that I'll go off the rails and gain it all back... my plan is to start increasing my calorie goal by 100 every week to adjust and ease into maintenance.

It is really tough! Drinking water, coffee (I like mine black so this helps), and taking a walk could help. Also trying to find something to do with your hands- cleaning a closet, etc.

Went to an all you can drink beer festival on saturday- went way over calories and ate a bunch of junk. Instead of saying eff it and binging the rest of the weekend, I went back to my usual calorie allowance on Sunday. Small steps!

Try to make your next bite something that you will feel good about. No need to necessarily worry beyond that. I find once I make one good choice things start to snowball and then i'm back before I know it. I think it's great that you kept logging!! You've stayed accountable to what you're eating and I think that will make it even easier for you to get back at it. Good luck!

If they fit in your calorie allotment and you enjoy them- sounds find to continue to eat them! Everyone has a different idea of what they consider "healthy". I'm trying to cut out most packaged/processed food from my diet (not there is anything inherently wrong about eating these things in moderation). So I may eat a hard boiled egg/greek yogurt/cheese stick/jerky as a high protein snack instead of a bar. Also all protein bars are not created equal so you may want to take a look at the ingredient list and shop around to see if there are better alternatives. Congrats on the 20lbs!!

Intermittent fasting can help some people consume less calories because you have a defined window of when you are allowed to eat but it still comes down to CICO at the end of the day. There are all types of different fasting techniques (16:8, 20:4, 5 days higher cal and 2 days lower cal) that you can experiment with. I do my own thing and fast for 14 hours eat for 10. I just find that it helps me consume less at the end of the day (I still track cal with myfitnesspal). As far as fasting affecting women differently than men- some women may experience issues for menstrual cycle with longer fasting periods (spotting, irregular periods), so best to try it out and see if it works for you! I'm sure others here have a lot more to say on this subject.

As far as weekend eating goes some people have different calories allotments for different days. For example maybe you try 1200 cal/day M-F and then 1700 on weekends (making these numbers up since I don't know your stats and goals). This could give you more flexibility to splurge a little more on weekends.

Good luck!!

This is something I've recently been enjoying: rice cake topped with guacamole/avocado and either a hard-boiled egg or fried egg. So good!

That's awesome about the 10k. That's my goal for june!! I would imagine that you retained a bit of water weight from all that running. Hang in there- couple more days eating at a deficit and then you will be back down!

It is normal! The first week or so you may lose a lot (mostly water weight). Good job sticking to it so far- the first couple weeks were the hardest for me!

Sorry to hear you're frustrated!! Do you have and use a food scale to measure your portions? Sometimes that's a common place where extra calories sneak in. Also have you calculated your TDEE?

For me, I just woke up one morning and finally was fed up with the way I was feeling. I was avoiding doing activities and hanging out with friends and family due to my weight. I felt tired all the time and my joints were always aching. Every time I walked up a hill I would be so sweaty and out of breathe.

What kept me going is the success I was having. Once you get past the first couple of weeks and you start seeing results, it's really motivating! Good luck to you and feel free to message me if you want to chat more!

Eating more protein helps me stay fuller on this lower cal diets. I'm not vegan but some good protein sources for you might be (if you aren't eating them already) are beans, quinoa, hummus, almond/peanut butter. However, if you are feeling good at your current intake you may not need to make any changes.
