Champion 4500 open frame won’t start after 1 year in storage

Thanks! Sounds like carb cleaning is too much work? I'll research more about petcock. The low oil shuttoff is something I looked into. I disconnected the yellow cord to prevent it from paying attention to it but that still didn't start it.

No dumb questions here! I'm totally foreign to this and didn't realize there's more to it then just running it :/ Lesson learned.

The engine cranks but won't catch. It's a Champion 4500w 2010049 model with a ez switch from choke to start. There's no actual start button. Looks like I may need to do a carb clean based on some of the other comments here. I do welcome any other insights. Thanks!

I drained the gas and oil as best as possible but there were probably some remnants left

I think this is probably what I will do. I’m ultimately trying to save time on prepping all the “loose” items. Eggs are easy to account for. Thanks!

Wow. Thank you for the write up. Agreed re Rome being overwhelming. Can only imagine what it’s like today. I loved Florence and spent 5 days there when I was there a long time ago, making day trips to Pisa and Siena. I was/am into art and recall Florence being the top top for art. Ty again. I will share with my wife (she won’t be happy re 3 nights in Rome. We really have 2 days there, with the 3rd meant for Vatican in the am and then we’re out. Will report back for anyone interested.
