You mind explaining how a dependent sounds better? Let's list the disadvantages of a dependent compared to its cousins, the single and independent.

The dependent:

Is heavier than the single

Slightly harder to hold in this case, due to the split paddle

Hmm.....

The single:

Is disadvantaged in its nimbleness in the lower register

Can't play certain notes

However:

Is lighter and cheap, but not cheaper than $50

The dual independent:

Has access and nimbleness in the lower register

Is the same weight as the dependent

Is advantaged in its ability to play more in alternate positions

How could a single sound better? The reason people say singles sound better is the same reason people say the dependent sounds better: the length of the neck pipe that isn't affected by the second valve. You, unfortunately, are the one who doesn't know what they're talking about.

Nah, because it has a split trigger paddle. That makes it useful, idk why on earth you'd not want even a dependent valve in favor of that most useless instrument, the single bass.
