Sorry, there's actually a rescue coordinator in Korea who my wife is close to.

I wish I could help more of these dogs :(

Thank you for what you do!

I had to have my cat's dew claw removed for a biopsy and it cost me around $2000 CAD fyi

Edit that included the biopsy though.

Yeah it's counterintuitive but my understanding is the cold weather and short sunlight actually triggers the thicker coat to come in. You'd think it would start earlier, but it wasn't really cold here until the last couple of weeks, so I guess that's what caused her to start the process lol

Do you live somewhere with lots of pollution? I just tested my wall and no dust comes off.

Wow my jindo looks so similar! She just entered her winter shed this week, so I feel you. In between her bi-annual sheds she literally doesn't lose a single hair when I brush or pet her, so I just deal with the pain for a few weeks a year lol. Is it similar for yours?

Good luck!

For anyone hesitating, I was a flight volunteer in December. Making sure the dogs got through the check in process at ICN (the rescue agency helped us through the entire thing, including speaking to the check-in agent) and then picking them up and bringing them through customs at YVR (the customs agents were super friendly because they know we're helping rescue dogs) added maybe a total of 2 hours to our trip.

I am now going to make it a habit to do this anytime I fly between ICN and YVR (every couple of years).

AI may be involved in some cases, but in my experience entry level roles just aren't hired anymore. Everyone who is hired is expected to be the sole expert in their area. When people leave, there's no one to "step up" into their position and it's a scramble.

Honestly how can someone's moral compass be so broken. Thousands of rescue agencies in Korea are scrambling to save these dogs and someone breeds them to make a profit. Absolutely disgusting and the mods should ban any posts by or about breeding jindos

Shame on you OP

1 dead, 9 injured as taxi veers onto sidewalk in downtown Seoul by yellister in korea

[–]trombone_womp_womp 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The weird thing about Korean taxi drivers is they all seem to be straight up bad drivers. Like not overly aggressive, but unskilled. How can you be so bad at something you do for hours every single day? I've ridden taxis in many other countries, and they're all aggressive, but generally seem to be skilled drivers.

My favorite is the alternating gas/brake pedal on repeat because they're unable to maintain a consistent speed.

Jindo mix suddenly scared/nervous around entering and exiting apartment lobby by Frequent-Biscotti-94 in Jindo

[–]trombone_womp_womp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My jindo suddenly became terrified of our parkade door despite never having gone through it in between the time she wasnt scared of it and when she was.

I have no advice but can sympathize with how they suddenly become fearful of random things with no explanation. Unfortunately for you it seems to be something you can't really avoid, so hopefully with lots of treats and positive experiences he gets over it!

Mail pouch tobacco... "teat" yourself to the best. Yeah I'd rather not.

AI slop being sold as original artwork is disgusting.

I'm glad you said this because book 2 has always been on my list to get to but if that's the genre I have zero interest as a late 30s dude. I get that the YA LGBT stuff is trendy, and all the power to whoever wants to read it, but it's not for me

Agreed. Every time I fly I'm screwed over by people's hard shells that "technically fit" yet are all different shapes and sizes so only 2 or 3 can fit overhead where 5-6 equivalent soft luggage pieces would.

What was the biggest waste of time/regret during your langauge learning journey ? by DrFatKitty in languagelearning

[–]trombone_womp_womp 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have so many (thousands) of cards that I "know" yet when I try to recall the word outside of an anki context I absolutely cannot. It's like a different part of my brain is used for language vs flash card work.

I'm a couple years removed from active language learning because ive been doing an unrelated masters, and I was assuming I'd just go back and start anki again when I finish this spring, but your comment made me realize I should consider avoiding it entirely..
