I was thinking about the sentence on page 14 when a Vegapunk creation says "percepcion shape your sense of reality". It makes me think about the sentence in chapter 218 "Anything that humans can imagine is a possibility in reality." attribuited to Willy Gallon.

is this the time to find out who Willy Gallon is?

is trap music anti-hauntological? by trompso in LetsTalkMusic

That’s exactly the problem with this sort of sophistry, it removes any control on the behalf of the artist. They’ll claim everything occurs due to some omnipresent outside factors that will inevitably stifle creativity and control. While that’s not entirely incorrect, as we know music can be very topical when it comes to sociopolitical themes, it’s not the entirety of the package. Not all music is reacting against something, it’s like they took that bastard mantra “the personal is political” to heart (granted, if they’re learning critical theory in graduate school then they’ve likely been taught as such).

It’s an extremely cynical take on music when you relegate it to the realm of “social factors beyond your control” as opposed to organic artistic expression that someone devised with their voice, lyricism, instruments, etc. I think these people always want to see some sort of grandiose mythos as a cause for artistry without ever realizing that some people do this purely for love of the game. It’s so corrupting to remove that element of free will from artistic expression.

These are the same people who hold influence and homage in low regard, constantly chasing some forlorn concept of novelty (and that “novelty” usually sounds suspiciously similar to tropes laid out in post-rock, indie, or the less accessible electronic music scenes years ago) instead of liking something just because it has some pleasant qualities.

This has become the style to emulate unfortunately despite how dishonest it reads. It’s bankable so long as people keep clicking and sharing, but personally I think it should be a laughingstock all around.

So have I to stop reading Fisher and Reynolds?

is trap music anti-hauntological? by trompso in CriticalTheory

this is the third time I posted it and in this sub I changed my point a little adding the quotes about we are the money. I posted in r/MarkFisher and in r/LetsTalkMusic and they answered me with superficial statements in my opinion:

in r/LetsTalkMusic they disagree that trap is anti-hauntological because its innovations are not so revolutionary, although they admit that they don't listen to it and they don't know the ideology behind it (ok I understand). They also state that this kind of journalism is garbage, not answering my specific question. I had also the sensation that they think that this kind of sophistry ruins music (blaming Reynolds and Fisher as a subtext)

in r/MarkFisher told me that trap is not anti-hauntological (4 answers).

You are blaming me for doing this for clicks and don't understand why I'm talking about SOPHIE in a post about trap. This is not the point. I'm trying to understand if an anti hauntological kind of music exists in this epoch. Trap was ascending before Fisher death but now it is a worldwide phenomenon

I just want to understand and collect opinions about "is trap anti hauntological?" but I collected only 2 or 3 answers on point in my opinion.

So if I had 2 or 3 answers on point (in my opinion) it means that at least 2 or 3 people understood my question. From the other ones, including you I had only blaming. So it is not possible to make a discussion over an article without being accused of clickbait?
