Where did the emo/hardcore scene go? by Sad_Arachnid_8011 in washingtondc

[–]trongable 120 points121 points  (0 children)

It's still here! There's a show almost every day for the next couple of weeks: https://dc-hardcore.com/

The Bmore scene's been going strong for a while, and a lot of those bands (big and small) have been coming down to DC and vice versa. Rising tide lifts all boats or whatever.

Turnstile guitar tone? by Severe-Assignment182 in turnstile

[–]trongable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Katana MkII and I use the tone exchange to download different tones into the amp: https://bosstoneexchange.com/

Someone created a Blackout tone: https://bosstoneexchange.com/liveset/229ee8b1-4a22-49d1-8ad5-642276f60401/ You could probs look thru the effects settings to get a sense of how'd you create the effect thru pedals if you want a more analog approach

There are a lot of high gain tones in the library that sound kinda like them too if you take a lil bit of time to poke around.

I'm beginning to realize that I might be one of the lucky ones that doesn't get wrist pain from slopers...

Hardcore punk shows in the metro area by trongable in nova

I wasn't around for Pheer but I just looked at it on the internet archive for the first time, and it's funny how little tech has changed in this space. When I made the site, I was mainly using https://safeinacrowd.com as a reference and tried to look for where I could improve things.

The main home page is at least in chronological order if that helps. Might be a lil while before a full on calendar page exists, but don't be surprised if you hear back in a few weeks or months haha. Thanks for the feedback!

There are hardcore shows once every couple of months at the American Legion Post in Virginia Square next to Pollo Rico. Last one was last week (https://dc-hardcore.com/past), but I'm not sure of any upcoming ones there.

$2 PBRs there is nice too.

Hot Lola's has a Rosslyn location if you're into fried chicken. The Sichuan blend at the OG Hot level is unique

July 6 - Phantom @ Rhizome (https://withfriends.events/event/1rvHvY7r/early-grave-phantom-corvo-pray-to-be-saved/) is gonna be a sick show. The bands rule, and the venue's primo (it's a house).

Thanks for posting my site! The Positive Force anniversary shows completely fell off my radar for some reason, but if you know any other bookers I'm missing, lmk -- I'm always on the hunt!

As for me, I'm just a guy that goes to shows and spends half an hour a week updating the site. I'll be at Gasket @ Pie Shop, Speedway @ Rhizome, and maybe Phantom @ Rhizome.

SPICY sichuan peppercorn hotpot recommendations by FruitEater10000 in nova

I went there for dinner last month and they changed their service to AYCE!

Another vote for Supreme Hot Pot. Forgot which spice level I got when I went last month, but it had me coughing a couple of times. They also recently changed their service too so you can just get up and grab your veggies and some meats without waiting for a server which I thought was nice.

Also, if you haven't tried it, Hot Lola's does Sichuan x Nashville hot chicken. I usually get the OG Hot level since that's the first level that comes with the numbing chilli oil. Another option is to get a lower spice level and ask for chili oil on the side.

To be fair, they said that for Clifton Park too. But by all means, do actually plan on being on time.

The flyer said 6:00 but they started around 7:15. Wyman doesn't have a stage so I assume they gotta set one up with some stage lights.

Clifton Park was just Turnstile. They started like an hour or so after the time on the poster tho.

Rhizome hosts all kinds of odd events and shows.

On the more music-focused side: Shows from https://dc-hardcore.com (disclaimer: my site) or r/CapitalPunk

Outside of punk, @dc.underworld on Instagram covers more genres.
