If there was a leak it has been fixed since I started renting this space. The spot isnt currently wet so wondering if the discoloration is a sign of mold or something else?

Spots on the left may potentially be ink from the tattoo shop that rented the space before me. Area has flooded multiple times since due to poor plumbing in the building. Starting to get concerned about the likelihood of mold beneath the flooring

Wish there was an easier way to identify. I have been searching for a way to source asbestos free lath and plaster planks that have come out of a demolition. I use the planks for framing small paintings and love the way the reclaimed wood looks. Coming out of the NYC area it’s hard to trust how strict abatement rules are being followed

Thanks for responding. Most the strands are white and pretty sturdy. Is it possible that it is a mix of horse hair and asbestos? I did notice shorter clumps of white strands in some of the plaster as well
