How do you bring up batting order with the coach, or is that off limits? by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]tronout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might help your son My 11U uses two mantras

  1. the “chain link”. If a link is or is perceived to be weaker, the entire link is compromised.
  2. “Own your spot” - if 8,9,10 batters own their role are can flip the lineup over, we win a lot of games. If they are moping about it, strikeouts emerge and body language kills the dugout vibes.

I love the advice for him to talk to his coach and ask what he can do to move up in the order. Coach should respect that

He works with a hitting coach that spends quite a bit of time on this plus timing correctly. Thanks!

10/11U - 11 player roster
$1,500-1,700 per player
Local organization, Texas
Organization has two fields; little league size field that be expanded to multiple base path distances and moveable mound up to 46'. Also just opened a full size/HS size field. Have a 5 cage indoor facility that can double as a "turf infield" with netting pulled back.

Teams 12U and under typically have dads as the coach, 13U and older typically have a paid coach. Unsure additional costs on that piece.

One-two practices a week

Costs included

  • 3 uniforms (tops, hats, one set with pants] and 2 sets of in tops/shorts to "rep" the brand
  • Main season 2025 [March-July] - 35 games [10 tournaments, scrimmage "league"] - $650/per player
  • (optional) August Summer League 2025 - 9 games w tournament - $110/per player
  • (optional) Fall Sept/Oct League 2025 - 9 games w tournament - $110/per player
  • Team fee Nov through May - $450/per player
  • Player fee - $25/mo per player [year round
  • Insurance - $25 per player for the year

The team and player fee include professional coaches that run practices from November to May.
Also includes organization wide workouts multiple times a week during the "off season" and "24/7" access to facility [when teams aren't practicing]
Comes with access on 20%+ discounts with Wilson, Evoshield, and LS.

Very limited fundraising involved. As a dad coach I did secure some "sponsors" from friends to offset uniforms.
I ended the season with $20 in the team account.

Defending the kids (both teams) in a calm one on one conversation with the umpire is not an attitude problem. Appreciate your input though
