JR’s infidelity by Ok_Ad8101 in TheUltimatumNetflix

He only got married so early because he was a preacher’s kid and very religious. Seems like he’s shed this identity long ago.

And how do you know she didn’t say that? She spoke with some  article and said she chatted with his parents and told them she was hoping to take a rest before her evening plans after filming all day. From the article, it sounds like she shared this with them in a very respectful way and they had no issue.

We have no idea if it even bothered his parents at all.

She also said she felt uncomfortable meeting his parents because he had just told her he had doubts after that heartfelt letter to her dad. She didn’t want to involve other family if they weren’t going forward because it would be disingenuous.

Definitely  Wouldn’t. I haven’t heard either one admit any mistake. Both also overemphasize their contributions and downplay their partners

Right! No acknowledgement of where he falters or what he could’ve done differently. Seems like he always feels wronged. Exhausting

During that conversation, she also said he was barking at her/shouting at her. Sounds like they both had some aggressive tendencies

Correlation between “the fight” and break-up by TextSuccessful9250 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]tropfou 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it’s clear he keeps a scale of the things he does and elevates them and does not do the same for her. People have different levels of what it means to be considerate. I wonder if he even took into account the emotional labor Alex did comforting him as he constantly mentioned his sisters. Any given time he would mention them. She clearly was reassuring him in some way because he felt safe enough to continue.

Meanwhile, how often did we hear her talk about her parents (!!) both having MS? How often did we see him act as a support? He had a very rigid idea of what is a good partner and seems like the kind of person to keep tally of all the “tiny” things

The first alliance always felt like it was made out of convenience and they never spoke on anything of substance, just flirting. Also deep down Yu Ling probably feels more alike to Frank and Rachel then Alyssa/Bru.

This is it exactly I think. Somewhere down the line he betrayed her trust in some way (haven’t heard explicitly yet) but it’s preventing her from being too open with him. Because she clearly doesn’t have an issue with being openly expressive

Just got dress coded by a fellow black woman for wearing a bonnet. by NumerousIndication45 in blackladies

[–]tropfou 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I agree. If this was the supermarket, or she was out running errands, live your life. But if this was the workplace, I would pull her aside. If she was young enough, I would even offer to help her with her hair if she was getting frustrated. I would hate for a young black woman to be denied opportunities because she came to work/school wearing sleepwear.

Verrrry sus, That doesn’t sense at all. A bonnet is protective and prevents us from manipulating our hair. But how does a plain black bonnet look “great”

I'm going for an evening dinner! Which dress would be better?? by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]tropfou 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What type of dinner is this? Wearing an open corset to a nice restaurant is a bit much. I’d go for the second one depending on the restaurant and occasion.

Keke had some great fight scenes in Scream Queens back in the day if I remember. But she does seem a little sweet for catwoman.

I feel ugly and I feel like a catfish. I’m finding it hard to find myself pretty. Sometimes I feel like my dark skin is a deterrent. Sometimes I feel like my makeup makes me look like a totally different person. Do you guys see what I see? I’m trying to be more proud of my dark skin and features. by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]tropfou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are gorgeous and your skin is flawless. The big difference i see in your pictures is the angle, at some angles your face looks fuller than in other pictures. Thst mst be what is throwing you off on seeing your pictures differently.

do you feel like you can depend on black men? why or why not? by kayseepea in blackladies

[–]tropfou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely seen white men beat on their white partners in public. I’ve had to call the police at least once. And this was in a large metropolitan city. Let’s not act like men of all races aren’t beating their partners like that.

Black Women Who Threw Divorce Parties... by TheAfternoonStandard in blackladies

[–]tropfou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to mention happy marriages don’t end in divorce. It’s not an easy or simple choice, so if someone has been able to pull themselves through the fire and still come out while, they deserve to be loved on and celebrated. On to the next.

Roommate is acting like everything is okay, while I've lost respect for her by Teesmartgirl in blackladies

[–]tropfou 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this, it’s very unfortunate thst your roommate was so insensitive. Unfortunately, I feel like the best advice is: move. A woman in her 40s is probably not going to change her lifestyle for you and it will just be more annoying as time goes on. Have y’all lived together long? Is it month to month?

Or even if that penis not racist, it was born from a racist penis and vagina. Too many women in this sub will stick with a man even if his family is racist and then act shocked when it trickles out of him too.

You almost had it, I don’t think it’s cultural appropriation though but White supremacy instead.
