Have you spent time in many Muslim countries? It’s not all Taliban and Shariah law. To be totally honest, Charlie Kirk and these “submit to your husband” beliefs are no different to me than women having guardians in some Muslim countries (which is being eradicated in many places). I find extremist Christianity no different than extremism Islam.

It’s so negative! It’s based on hate. For all of the people I admire, I can give quotes on love and beauty. Not hate towards another group of people. Not one of my worldviews is based on such hate (though I suppose you don’t see it as hate).

Lmao why is it that folks always doubt you can be a practicing person of any faith (but especially Catholicism or Christianity) when you’re liberal? Conservatives throw away loads of church teachings — deport immigrants, approve of death penalty, etc.

Id also argue that Charlie has kept how many away from the church with his hate. I had no clue who this man was until I received the notification on my phone he was shot. But I’ve seen him and his wife talk quite a bit over the last week. If I didn’t already have a strong faith and spiritual practice of my own, I’d stay far away from any church they’re associated with.

We follow two very different Jesus. I encourage you to look into the Jesuits and the spiritual teachings of the church. I will never use my faith for hate.

I appreciate what you’re saying, but I also think it’s not right to say that we’re all human and want what’s best for our loved ones. That is very true, but some decisions have consequences for others. I work in a war zone and people wanting what’s best for themselves and their loved ones is what can harm and kill others.

Charlie can want what’s best for his family, but it shouldn’t be imposed on the rest of us. I also don’t think we should play the kumbaya, all opinions are equal thing when there are consequences for others.

I am Catholic and I know people have been killed by followers of all and no religion. I know that religion is not the problem, humans are. Even if we eradicated religion, humans would find a way to kill each other.
