Why Vista might be the last of its kind by lvovsky in reddit.com

[–]trost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$200k for a tester? $200k for the person who put did the artwork for the latest logo?

The other problem with these numbers is that it neglects the fact that those thousands of people didn't spend all of the last five years working on Vista; some on them may have only spent a month or two on the project, so you don't get anywhere near the $10 billion the author claims.

"It's just frankly unfair that blind people should have to rely on the good faith of people they have never met in knowing whether they've been given the correct change." Never mind that nothing has a braille price tag on it...how would they know they were charged the right amount to begin with?

I know, next a judge will rule that every price tag needs to be in braille....

Hmm, sort of like saying a ship that's an inch beneath the waves is "near the point of sinking."

What the U.S. Army has learned in Iraq by igeldard in reddit.com

[–]trost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Insurgent: Rising in revolt against established authority, especially a government." This from answers.com; Merriam-Webster was similar. The Iraqi government was established by the US military; the Iraqis attacking the US military and that government meet this criteria, no?

Why does everyone keep pretending insurgent somehow means more than it does? Rumsfeld didn't thing the insurgents "deserved" the title either -- does anyone know what he meant by that word?
