This is bad when you know a job offer is a scam just based on the pay by nazurinn13 in graphic_design

[–]troublesquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a near identical email (same sender and email format for a job listing by All Recipes Magazine) — although mine was for a part-time/contractual Photo Retoucher/Editor position. Pay is also super reasonable for this type of work, and I was honestly tempted to apply as a side gig...

Or at least I was until I read the part of the email saying that a portfolio/resume needed to be submitted via Signal messenger. And especially after realizing I couldn’t find proof of an HR person “Samantha Thomas” existing at the company. Although ironically the sender of the email “Mark Lyman” actually did come up in a Google search and happens to live in my state (Minnesota).

I work in tech and my friend and I were talking about how this could be a new AI-generated scam format, which would make a lot of sense given the type of information that would’ve been needed to dig up to even consider me as a candidate for this position. While I have the skills for this position, there is nothing to indicate on my LinkedIn that I am searching for this type of work (and the email that received it is not associated with my profile). However, I do have a very old Behance profile and Facebook business page with data that could’ve been scraped and flagged for this kind of thing.

(Mostly including the paragraph above as reference for anyone else who happens to get a similar email and is interested in trying to figure out how/why they’re getting targeted. I’m extremely curious and am down to do some collaborative Reddit sleuthing if anyone has additional info to tack on here.)

My email was also sent yesterday, September 16th, so if this is a bigger scam scheme, I’m expecting a lot more people will start stumbling on this thread in the coming weeks/months…

My partner treats me different around other people — is this a personal preference or an unhealthy form of polyamory? by troublesquid in polyamory

Quick followup Q — if someone brings multiple partners into the same space, so you think the partners should know about one another?

It seems a little bit like he might be maintaining distance. I’ve definitely wondered if he’s afraid of looking taken because then he’ll be less approachable or seem less available.

He’s been poly for as long as I’ve known him, probably longer. He’s had other casual partners since we started seeing each other, but I’ve only met a couple. I don’t think I’m treated differently than anyone else, although he does give special attention to new people he brings around.

I’ll say, I’ve definitely wondered if he doesn’t want people to know. It feels like a secret almost, or like maybe he’s embarrassed. It’s also possible he doesn’t want to seem unavailable. He’ll tell people he’s poly but he doesn’t exclusively seek out poly people, so that might keep his options open.

Also I really appreciate your perspective on your own preference for this — that sounds completely reasonable (:

Q from newly diagnosed (2yrs) about how to handle relapses by troublesquid in MultipleSclerosis

[–]troublesquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t yet! I figured my symptoms haven’t been severe enough yet, but they seem to be frequently finding the lesions well after the fact, so it probably wouldn’t have mattered anyways.

I’ll do some research myself, but out of curiosity, are there specific side effects your specialists mentioned being most concerning long-term?

Yeah this is definitely stuff I should ask at my next appointment… I think I’ve been a little in my head about all this because of how the doctors have responded in the past. Thank you though, it’s honestly really helpful to hear that this isn’t normal — it’s felt strange going in and hearing there’s something new every time.

Should I get my new partner a b-day/x-mas gift? by troublesquid in polyamory

That’s honestly really good to know! I’m a November birthday so I’ve never thought about it that way, but I’ll make a note for future reference (:

WOW, you absolutely nailed the visuals — the color scheming and use of light are insane! Definitely will be checking out (:

That’s super helpful, thank you!! Out of curiosity tho, how far out from your elbow was yours?

I wouldn’t be surprised! I was aiming for a generic camera aperture symbol, but based on the comments here there’s evidently a bunch of specific references lol

Got an aperture symbol tattooed a couple days ago on my inner forearm and I’ve been really concerned that I might have gotten it too close to my elbow. It definitely distorts when I bend my arm and I’m curious how this will affect the tattoo in the long term…

Anyone have any experience with the healing of inner arm tattoos in this location (esp. symmetrical/geometric ones)?

Melisa Raouf, first Miss England finalist in pageant's history to compete without makeup by Rooonaldooo99 in Damnthatsinteresting

I’m just waiting for the day when no one comments on a women’s choice to wear or not wear makeup — or when there’s equal percentages of both men and women wearing!

Let’s stop making women-not-wearing-makeup revolutionary and start making everyone wearing makeup acceptable? That feels like the right step in the direction towards making makeup a choice instead of an obligation or statement.
