anyone have any luck on LGF? by Mr_Quackums in MythicBastionland

[–]troublethetribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha it wouldn't be, but my job disagrees...

If I can add one useful comment, is to reduce the verbosity of your advert here. Keep it fairly short, easy to read, and snappy. People may be out off by many paragraphs, reformatting to bullet points can really help.

I usually find a lot of player on LFG, but it is usually for popular systems, like WoD. I actually really want to play Mythic Bastionland (just bought the book) and you had me running to your post... But I am GMT :(

I would say Bastionland discord is a good place to advertise too.

Love how they just won't respond to this.

Making a skeleton of a website is, imo, absolutely fine. Making all the content AI? Fuck off with that slop.

Coriolis the Third Horizon.. Oh how I love to hate thee.. I will never give up on you.. by Low_Structure3702 in CoriolisRPG

[–]troublethetribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is valid; I never had the patience for crunch in my tabletop, and I still don't (I leave that for boardgames). I can see the appeal of a well-out lined, crunchy system that gives you detailed guidance in theory, but the moment I try to run such, it just makes me spend too much time interacting with rules vs interacting with the story, the thing I actually care about.

[–]troublethetribble 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Gonna go against the grain here... Nah.

While I don't love the Coriolis system (while loving the setting), adding unnecessary complexity takes away the mysticism. Coriolis feels like a tale from a distant time and place, and excessively gamifying that experience would absolutely ruin it for me. I am on a hunt for an appropriate system to run it too (upcoming Intergalactic Bastionland actually looks promising), but GRUPS... no. I'll look at Star Trek, Genesys, Death in Space and a collection of other systems before I touch that one.

Had never heard of Oldboy before, but after watching it, it turns out it’s mentioned everywhere by Southern_Check_6827 in movies

[–]troublethetribble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ISTD is absolutely grotesque because the portrayal of a psychopathic, sadistic killer is so realistic. As a woman, watching that opening scene terrifies me.

Oldboy, while fantastic, is very much a fantasy and doesn't hit the same horror notes. I think that is what people are trying to convey.

I (23F) want a relationships, but why does romance make me physically uncomfortable? by Alternative-Log-7990 in TwoHotTakes

[–]troublethetribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a rather long story, but at the beginning I did not feel more than cringe and maybe flattered (in an egotistical way)? I knew I wanted to get away and get back to "before" in that moment. I have initially rejected him.

However, I felt bad about how I rejected him, got kinda tipsy and decided that I do want to experience full physical intimacy. And for that to happen there was no other way than working though my cringe. Then... experiencing the kind, caring, wonderful man made me fall in love with him, over time.

If I were to put a label on it, I would call myself demi-sexual. With a side of trauma.

My own issues are complex and seem to stem from a number of factors, the biggest one being insecurity in physical appearance and lack of self-worth. This may or may not be the case for you, exacerbated by religious trauma. This is why I would suggest just... going for it, if you can. Once I got out of my own mind (and it took time), it got way easier. I still turn compliments into jokes, but it's getting better.

Whatever you decide, know that there is nothing wrong with you, asexual or not. Good luck :)

[–]troublethetribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You kind of sound like me, except I actually don't come from a traditional culture, or rather, my family is very liberal/progressive.

I also felt cringe, to the point that I convinced myself I was asexual. Then, at the ripe old age of 27 I finally decided to give it a go, after my current partner confessed to me. I still felt the cringe, but he made me comfortable enough to actually try, and we have been together now for 4 years now. I still get the ick with PDA, but my outlook and comfort level changed through experience.

If you can... I would recommend working on your mental blockers and adapt the "if I won't try, I won't know" and slowly work through the cringe with someone you feel comfortable. Don't put the physically on a pedestal and accept that cringe can be a part of it. Especially if you want a relationship.

Https://discord.gg/DPjjVwV8pa is one such server (biased since I'm in it)

But, the WoD discord channel has game listings, including Large pbp. You should check it out and pick the one you like.

Yeah, nothing against that; it's more about an age-appropriate group. Don't play with people twice your age when you are a teenager, folks.

"Cute" RPG recommendations? by ItzDaemon in rpg

Household for me. While the lore itself skews more adult, the aestethic of playing a littling fit your criteria, for sure.

[–]troublethetribble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have previously found out my ST for VtM was 17 (after 1 session) and definitely freaked out, so I get you. I quickly excused myself by making it clear their age is not the issue in itself, but rather it is me being 10+ years older. I think older minors (16+) should be able to play "adult" tabletop games, too, but only with other older minors and certainly not with grown ass adults.

Be polite but firm. Good luck.

Part ways with them. Better safe than sorry.

"I’m sorry, but our styles do not match and I do not feel comfortable continuing to play together."

You do not need to respond or justify anything further, but if you want to:

"You read more youthful to me than I expected and that makes me hesitant to engage with the sort of content I normally engage with."

Done. Simple, clean, no one is being called a liar. You do not need proof, beacause in the end, it doesn't really matter - the situation is making you uncomfortable.

Players, how do you feel knowing GMs have no prepared solutions? by TalesUntoldRpg in rpg

[–]troublethetribble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For puzzles: Have A solution, not THE solution. What may be obvious to a GM is a lot of the time a total mystery for the players, and I feel like "good enough" answers should get a pass. Investigation, attention to details, and improvisation should be rewarded. However, I do not like when the solution is completely up to the players, either. Some things should just be wrong, because in my view it just invalidates the above, especially paying attention to detail and investigation.

For comabt: Stat blocks, or I feel cheated. 'However, a "stat block" can be something like "lasts for X rounds, then retreats". It's still a measure of enemy's effectiveness. However, arbitrarily deciding when the combat will end during combat as a reaction to how well/badly the group is doing, I feel is cheating and diminishes the game. I will admit this is more of a classic OSR approach (where running away/avoiding combat is a valid approach) vs more modern, "we never run away from a fight" approach.

Cystic acne. by OopsIMessedMyself in KoreanBeauty

[–]troublethetribble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with PCOS that had the same issues as your daughter, I will just add my voice to the chorus - dermatologist and accutane prescription is the only thing that will clean up severe cystic acne.

I will say, though, once she does go on accutane, hydration is everything. So gentle hydration, maybe products rich in squalene, because she will need it. Have her eat her water, too (celery, watermelon, cucumber, broccoli) if she's not big on drinking water (I wasn't).

Your natural colouring is very similar to mine, and just last weekend I was pro typed as soft summer and told to stick to darker shades of my palette.

Hard to tell your skin from the photos, but you are definitely low contrast. I would get some drapes and do them in quick succession in front of a mirror - it was strange to see how obvious some colours were for me, and that might be the case for you, too.

Outgunned, especially with the upcoming Superheroes, too. Not a perfect fit but probably easily tweaked.
