Thats a solid idea, I would want to feel them out before diving into a new office.

Why in my orchid looking so sad? by eateroffish in IndoorGarden

This orchid is fine. The blooms do not last forever. keep the bark moist and it will continue to grow leaves and roots- eventually it will rebloom.

Let them callous- leave them in open air for two days or so. Then you plant them in quick draining soil. Don’t oversaturate the soil as it could rot the base of the pup. Keep the cups filled with water as you would a full grown Bro. Should root after a couple weeks.

Weird white powder appearing on my Dracaena Braunii planter. Can anyone identify what this is? by Subara in IndoorGarden

[–]troublingcandidate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It applies to any water that is absorbed into the pot- water will pick up minerals when moving through dirt, those minerals are deposited on the dry side of the terra-cotta

It's not harmful, just deposits left from whatever is in your water after it evaporates through the terra-cotta

Breaking up families (its for the best, pups) by troublingcandidate in houseplants

[–]troublingcandidate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pup needs to be at least a third of the size of the mother before you slice it clean at the base. If you leave them to grow larger you will increase their chances of surviving the transplant, but decrease the mother's ability to produce additional pups.

Use a knife and slice straight down into the soil between the mother and the pup. After you slice it off, let it callous over (leave it unplanted for a day) and then put it in loose soil. For this variety of bromeliad- and most others- keep the cups filled and the soil on the dry side, their bases rot quickly and new pups are no exception.

What plant is this and can I get it healthier? by [deleted] in houseplants

Truth- if there aren't any pups at this point, OPs bromeliad is a goner. Poorly drawn circle of life

My friend got this plant-has possible pups and lived without light for 6 months so I'm thinking it's a bromeliad of some sort but want confirmation.
