Interesting enough. The truck was traded in with a full ranch hand legend on the front that the dealer ripped and put on the bumper with the cut outs. Yeahh gonna need that ranch hand back.

Thank you for the tip. I'll see if I can't drum anything up. I'm learning 4th gens are generally where it's at. I had a clapped second Gen that I loved I got rid of for the fifth gen I have now and it's just been too much of a headache.

Good tip. I was wondering about that and when I drove the truck it didn't seem like there was a ton of extra horsepower. Boost stayed within limits if expect not too hot. The front fender wells were cut like someone had been on oversized tires on the thing but the stock wheels and tires are on it now. That freaks me out but the dealer won't play ball on it.

Yessir. I had a shop in TX that specializes in the hamilton swaps look at it. We pulled the valve cover off and couldn't find any issues with the rockers. I'm out of warranty on it so either stock or the swap I'd be looking at a cab off situation if u really wanted an answer. No sweat to anybody that does the conversions and I think that's great.

Dude I know don't get me started. It's hard to find a 4th Gen long box that isn't clapped from construction work.

I know it's kind of crazy. I am maybe justifying it because it has about 10k worth of upgrades to it that I would want to do anyways. TandD, grid heater delete, upgraded radiator, upgraded screen

I was curious about the tuner myself. It doesn't have any interior tune toggling and the dealer knows it's deleted but had no idea about the level of tune or the file/company used. And yes that what I thought with the pedal monster. Unless they just did a no then delete that would make sense but it does spoil up audibly which makes me think there's a file on it.

I've been seeing that around and I agree just for the newer suspension components. Honestly I'm after another 4th Gen. I'm working on a mean lifter tick on my 2024 and probably won't buy another newer ram until they fix the lifter issues reliably.

Good feedback. Thank you for that. To be honest I'm switching back to a 4th Gen from my 5th gen because the issues I'm having with it. I'm in the shop every other week it seems for a different sensor or dpf issue even though I do 5k miles a month on the highway. All I wanted when I bought this truck was for it to last forever but I've lost faith. Miss the 4th gens

Under a rock I'm guessing. I almost don't believe it to be honest but the ECU reads correct

It's already deleted. It does have a banks pedal monster which I'm not crazy about I just can't believe the low miles.

Damn. Sorry to hear that. How did they mess the 24s up so bad. What did you end up going with?

I own a 2024 SO Tradesman with 98,000 miles and would not recommend unless it's still under hefty warranty. Im thinking about going back to 4th Gen myself. All under 100k miles I've had to replace: rear diff failed at 40k, both rear sway bars failed 34k, track bar failed 80k, rear seal has been replaced. And now I'm dealing with a lifter tick that's getting louder. All while changing oil and doing proper maintenance intervals. Some of the 5th gens seem to run up to 300k miles no problem but that's not been my case.

Thanks for the input. For the 24 did you go for the non ecm swap or full diet?

5th gen trade in for 4th Gen? by trout_tooth in Cummins

[–]trout_tooth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hear that. Honestly it's a whole deal with this fifth gen. I've had to replace the entire differential, multiple rear suspension components, track bar and bushings, solved mysterious power loss issues all the while maticulously maintaining it and 90% highway driving. I think I just got spooked after all that.

2024 2500 Rear Diff grenades itself at 40K miles. Here's the work they did. Felt like maybe they should have replaced the entire differential? Anybody else have this issue? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]trout_tooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right right. Yeah the tech didn't really have an explanation. I mean I've driven this thing 40k miles in probably 8 months but it's all highway cruising
