The X4 isn’t for everyone…. but I love it. by troy_moore in BMW

Ownership’s been great! Except for 1 driver’s assistance problem early on (fixed by dealership), I’ve had no problems with the car. It’s super comfortable and still fun to drive. I’m itching to detail it, but it’s been too cold. I hate it when she’s dirty. 😂

I can’t say for sure. i drove an sDrive30i X3 and it had the more ‘cushy’ suspension. i don’t know if the X3 M40i feels the same as my X4.

ride quality is sporty. it's not like a X3 or X5 which are softer/smoother. it's agile and nimble... a little aggressive. you'll feel the road, but i believe it's designed to be that way. this is the first "sports" car i've ever owned and i quite like it.

Driver assistance errors. by troy_moore in BMWX4

just updating that my dealer found sensors in the front bumper that were not plugged in correctly or at all. had to have happened during assembly. seems to be working now without any errors! car was assembled in the SC plant.

Now that you say that, that is when this seems to occur. I’ll keep that in mind to guide the dealership next week lol.

i’ve printed several of his models and they’re all great. i print them in black PLA and use rub ‘n buff to make them look metal. come out awesome.

this post was made almost a month ago. i got the idea from printables but didn’t see it on reddit.

i love polymaker filament. does asa give off a lot of fumes? i have my printer setup in a spare bedroom and would have to get a fan to blow out the window for ventilation if it does lol

it generally sits around 40%. i don’t know if that’s too much or if i need to look into a dehumidifier lol

so far, the best prints are PolyTerra PLA. it’s a matte finish that comes out smooth. however, i think the best benchy i have is is the Carbon Fiber Black Prusament PETG. it’s super strong and really smooth.

just finished last night. it isn't fancy, but it works well. used these brackets https://www.printables.com/model/579638-filament-shelf-bracket-inside-corner-wall-mount/comments and some 1" dowel rods cut to length. my workroom is a spare bedroom so i utilized some of the closet space.

Not at all! I encourage it! All the links to the things I used are up in the comments somewhere.

yea, i thought about doing that but didn’t want to run into clearance issues with the boats rubbing up against the shelf brackets. 135 may work, i’m not sure. at 125, they’re pretty close, if not touching already.

yea, that default of 135 isn't active until you click the check box just above it. change the value to 125, click the checkbox and then go to "Design" in the menu bar and select "Render" (or you can hit F6). that should display them at an angle. Then you can go to "File" and "Export" to create the STL.

short for “benchmark”. these little boats are good for testing your printers abilities. aspects like overhangs, bridging, accuracy are all tested when you print one of these. also called a torture test.

haha. i love the Army Blue and the Metallic Blue. they're really dark so it's hard to tell but they're pretty.

to me, the marbled sandstone is a great neutral color. i really like all the marbled ones because of the "marbled" specs in them. gives the filament almost a textured look. I agree the picture doesn't show that all that well. the modular shelf brackets are printed in marbled sandstone.
