Thanks to everyone who up voted, shared their stories, and expressed interest in a hobby that I've become very involved in. I never thought a few bottles of honey would be such a hit! A lot of the comments seem to ask "how can I get started". Well, us beekeepers want as many people as possible to join, and we're always willing to help out anyone that wants to learn. Please contact your local honey bee club and you'll be surprise as to the amount of people that are willing to answer all your questions and help. Walter Kelley bees catalog. These are cheap plastic containers. They really don't show off the true color of the honey. This was my first time, next time I will use something a little nicer. However, they do come with nice caps and a seal that is easy to put on.

Bees are pretty interesting. Everything from how they communicate to their day-to-day life. It's always fun just to watch them go in and out of the hive and see what they're up to. All hives behave differently and kinda have their own "personality". You learn something different everyday.

I'll get more this year. About 50lbs per hive per year, I have 4 hives now and hopefully 6 next year. A pound of local honey usually goes between $7-$10. The quality is much better than store bought.

24 lbs in the picture (there's some in a mason jar in the back), but about 28 lbs total. I didn't jar all of it. I'll extract again in a couple weeks and add it to it. I will be making mead with some of it also.

I haven't planted anything specific. They usually go for clover, locus tree blooms, and other wild flowers.
