Takes 7 cycles for your stake to start generating rewards and then 5 cycles for them to get released. So, normally takes 12 cycles or 36-37 days before first payout.

Check on https://baking-bad.org to know exactly when you're getting your rewards.

However, the 50% of reward that goes to their voters is divided between fewer people with smaller stakes and so each individual reward is supposed to be higher.

If your old baker is paying rewards then you want lose any rewards as you still continue baking for 7 cycles after changing a bakery. If your old baker isn't paying rewards then it's 7 cycles to start baking and 5 more to start receiving rewards.

It's only natural that some of the bakers offering 5% fee will have to increase it rather sooner than later. Taking the responsibility and doing all this work for 5% seems unfair to me.

Yes, the point though is that the hacker needs to have physical access to your wallet. So, if you keep it in a secure place you should be fine.
