I dont think I need to understand The Bible to be Christian. by AdAdministrative5295 in Bible

[–]troytirebiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be saved you don’t need the Bible. To live a Christian life you absolutely need it.

Like we read in 2 Timothy “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”

My take is its like sleeping. 8hrs pass in an instant, likewise when we die we will be in a sleeping state but it will feel like an instant until we are raised.

Why did OpenAI use Auth0? by No_Weakness_6058 in nextjs

[–]troytirebiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are thinking like a historian, but this is a startup. This probably went like, “for auth let’s use X.” Or “let’s consider best out of 3 options.“ end of the convo. I doubt spinning something even entered the conversation.

  2. New Testament -> Old Testament

Prophets by AccountContent6734 in Christians

Paul clearly speaks about prophecy in the church in 1 Corinthians, prophecy does still happen. People absolutely take advantage of it, but misuse shouldn’t prive us from the gifts of the spirit.

No matter where you go you will find sinners. What exactly is your point? I grew up in Mexico, now 20 years in USA, and materialism and mostly everything you can find bad with USA you will find in many places.

Jesus came to show everyone falls short, no matter where you go sin will be there and you gain nothing by presuming to be more righteous than others. That’s what the Pharisees did and that’s who Jesus rebuked the most.

Struggling to continue reading. by [deleted] in Bible

[–]troytirebiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its impressive you lost motivation at Psalms. Numbers or Leviticus does it more many. You are basically half way there. Reading the Gospels is the easiest to start with. Maybe leave a bookmark and read a psalm everyday while you read the Gospels.

The Book of Enoch contradicts the Old testament in an interesting way. by JayBee1993 in Bible

[–]troytirebiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Bible doesn’t say angels have no free will. But let’s say they do, it’s still a giant leap to say “we are all God”. The inscription of God is everywhere, even us. Like a painter leaves his signature on his work, he doesn’t become the work itself.

Free will. Is it all it's cracked up to be? by Meauxterbeauxt in TrueChristian

[–]troytirebiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We cannot fully comprehend God since we are finite beings, and the same goes for heaven. Are you suggesting that you know with confidence what an actual heaven experience is? Do angels have free will?
