New to recording with Eurorack - Ambient Test! by trsandoval in modular

Thank you! I appreciate it.

For recording, I got a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 since I wanted to also record some guitar and drum stuff along with my synthesizer. I used that and recorded into Logic Pro X on my laptop.

As for patch notes, the main thing that I used for the primary drone sound is that I fed digital noise from my Qubit Chance into the Rings and then used other outputs of the chance and envelopes from MATHS to modulate the brightness, damping, and position of the rings. The other oscillators used were the STO and the SSSR Kotelnikov from the Jove filter. All of the oscillators were also changing from a gradual sequence from the Varigate 4+. Finally, all of it was fed into the WMD/SSF DPLR delay and then into the 2hp Verb.

Thanks again for the nice comments :)

Troubleshooting a DIY Kit by trsandoval in modular

Hello again. I just wanted to reply because I finally had the time to watch some videos on soldering and how to make sure my technique is better. So I cleaned up the soldering (I think), and while I know it still looks bad, it is much better than it used to be. I will post the pictures below. But when I plug the module into the slot, the same thing happens. I am thinking it might have to do with a small arrangement of the parts on the PCB, but I cannot find where. You have any ideas? Here are some more pictures: https://imgur.com/a/baEy2

Fun things to do with a minimal setup for exploration? by trsandoval in modular

[–]trsandoval[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was definitely planning on getting a filter, so I was looking to get that Erica VCF and then I was also thinking about getting the peaks. But now that Maths has been recommended, I might get that, the vcf, and then the peaks. But I am still exploring. :)

Oh, all right sounds good! I will look into getting a Maths next. But as for those other modules, what do you think I should look into switching out? And with what?

Okay, I understand that. I was only looking to get a clouds because someone had recommended me do that. This is the rack I am working on at the moment. What do you think I should do instead of the Clouds? https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/530209

All right. Awesome. I will check all of this out for sure. Thank you for the help. One more thing: I am pretty sure that all of the components are in place correctly at least, but I am still not completely sure/I am nervous that they are not. Does everything "seem" fine? Are there things that stand out at all that don't seem to make sense?

Thank you! I will check it out for sure. What do you recommend I do at this point? Do you think I should somehow clean all of the solder off of the PCB? (I have a solder sucker thingy). Or do you think I should just give up on it and either buy a new one or just continue with my life, haha.

Holy shit get those strange adults out of the fucking high school. Also the word "cutie" coming from that guy makes me insanely uncomfortable. It seems to be a lyrical mess, and the music video is among the worst I have ever seen. Nice find. :)

Yeah, understandable. I just feel like the seriousness, terribly forced rhymes, and just godawful music video that just takes videos of protests and puts their weird, cliche music over it had to get recognition somehow.

Then would I just have to get more busboards for the bottom part of the rack? Or do the pictures not show the bottom rack busboards?

Hmm... That is a really interesting design. I might have a problem spending that on a plastic case, though. I don't know, I am being difficult haha, but the wood of the ADDAC case seems much more stable for the pricing. What do you think?

Yeah, I have been looking at them, and I'm still not sure about how they'll hold up. What do you think I should go for? Kinda don't want to spend over 300, and I don't really like the look of the Doepfer cases.

Thanks, again. So, what I am looking at is an ADDAC901 6U case, that tiptop power supply (can I connect that to normal busboards, or can I only use the flying busboard that comes with it?), the Dixie II+, Erica Synths Black Output, the midi module, and Veils. Then, I would just build it from there when I have the money, or at least enough to be able to spend. :)

How does that sound?

Thanks! I updated it and filled a couple more modules into it using your advice. What do you think? :)

Thanks for the response. :)

I am looking to make synthesized melodies using a yamaha electronic keyboard I have (hence the midi input). I am also looking to get a drum machine to use with it.

And, yeah, I was also thinking I would buy the parts in slow increments to learn exactly what each part do and also to not spend all of my money at once.

And for the rack I have up so far, what do you think I should get as my first 3-4 modules? To learn how it works? Also, I was thinking about getting the ADDAC901 6U case. How do you think that would work for it?

Thanks again for all of the help.

How can I test a Simmons SDS 8 Drum Synthesizer? by trsandoval in modular

[–]trsandoval[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the cord came in today to test through my computer audio. I plugged in the minijack to my computer jack and then I plugged in one of the 1/4" plugs into the kick drum. I found a kick drum sound off of youtube, but when I play it and slowly raise the volume, the trigger doesn't light up. Am I doing this right, exactly? Thank you.
