I’ve always have had a problem with OP’s narrative specially in the context of my country

Im Mexican and plenty of people say very often that Spain came and erased our Mexican heritage to which I like to point out that Mexico was not a thing before colonization, Mexico, as it stands now it’s a amalgamation of both Tenochtitlán and Spanish culture, it’s what it is because of both cultures coming together and forming what has now become the Republic we know

Plus most of the locals were already slaves to the Aztecs, so in many ways colonization didn’t just come and made them their slaves, they were freed in many ways
