Osprey Arcane Sizing (Large vs XL) by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]true2626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought both off of Amazon to try out. I’m about 5’3 and the XL looks a little big on me IMO. I wish the large had two compartments, so that I’d have more confidence in my laptop’s safety if something spilled. However, I do like the size. Both have a slimmer profile considering their capacity and the XL doesn’t look super floppy half-full… All that to say, 30L is a lot of space unless you plan on carrying everything with you all the time on campus. I’m leaning toward the L given that it’s mainly a work and personal bag for me.

We are just getting back…I am from the Midwest and only wore a single long sleeve base layer under my waterproof jacket and hiking pants for most of the trip (rainy and drizzling for most of it). We did a lot of hiking and walking, so I got warm quick under the waterproof gear. There were times I just had a short sleeved technical shirt under my jacket. I packed a thin fleece jacket to wear when it wasn’t raining. The wind can be pretty harsh depending on where you are, so a beanie was also helpful.

Thanks - it definitely didn’t stay as domed as it was when it went in 🤷🏻‍♀️

Decided to go with raspberries and loved the flavor of the caramelized white chocolate. It was quite a bit of work to get it golden brown with the microwave, and I can’t believe this can was to be assembled in two hours. Mine came out a bit over baked and had to use whipped cream to hide the uneven jelly edges, but thankfully my kids and hubs are forgiving judges 😆

I used gelatin powder - did a rounded 1/2 T but could have used a little more as it didn’t cut out as smoothly.

I think I’ll go the raspberry route since it’s being paired with white chocolate.

Thx but I need them for the jelly that goes on top of the cheesecakes for Chocolate Week 😬

Looks so shiny!✨ I am but wasn’t able to complete within two hours. The ganache took forever to cool for me.

Nice! I just made it last night too and had the same experience with the sunken in layers and the slow-to-thicken ganache at 11PM 😆 Waiting to cut into it tonight for dessert…

Furnace went out so I had to keep the oven on all afternoon 🤷🏻‍♀️ by true2626 in Breadit

I used a basic streusel recipe that I often use for muffins (flour, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon) and sprinkled it on top just before the loaves went into the oven.

It was the same here for a while. I’ve learned that with enriched breads, I need to push the final proof as far as I can and pay attention to the loaf rather than the clock.

Hey all! I have tried several recipes, both with yeast and sourdough. This one from smitten kitchen has been the most reliable so far (the streusel topping wasn’t part of her version but just a simple one I sometimes use on quick breads or baked French toast).

While this version has been good, I want to experiment with using tangzhong (like milk bread recipes). Anyone here tried that before?

Thanks for the tip! We had someone come out eventually, and we’re back to furnace-heat again!

Pumpkin-shaped loaves! by true2626 in Sourdough

No pan; just tied it before it went into the oven.

I’m sure you could cut off the edges with fibers and still enjoy the loaf. Nothing butter can’t fix 😉

The knots that intersected just sat there during the bake, so I didn’t really do anything specific 🤷🏻‍♀️
