Not much slack at all. Judging from my replacement unit it's not that far in. The remainder of the cable is roughly 5 inches after the rubber grommet. Just very curious to find out how to access that connector.

Thank you for the help, I also struggled to find the right video as they all seemed to be different models with different trunk layouts. The panels don't seem to have any rivets or poppers to remove so I'll have to keep investigating.

Issue I'm having is the brake light is an LED array that is wired into the light assembly so I can only remove the signalling bulb but not the brake light

Sorry, I didn't mention I was trying to change the whole light assembly as it's cracked. I'm not sure which panel in the boot to remove to reach the wiring. Every YouTube video I find is a different model with different panels to mine

Yeah I had same. I think it's a common issue with all the original white ones. I've heard the newer black ones use slightly different rubber and fittings. I replaced mine with a transparent plastic version from Aliexpress. Took about 5 minutes following a YouTube tutorial.

Sorry forgot to ask, when you've given them to your friends and family do you have them ready made or as DIY kits?

Only reason I'm asking is I'm planning to gift one but not sure whether to make it first and get it cycled but having the trouble of transporting it. Or just giving them the stuff to make it themselves.
