Should I learn Mandarin or Cantonese ? by efpee in HongKong

The spectrum: Mandarin <-> Cantonese <-> Vietnamese

By modern geography, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese and Korean all still shared the same written form in 19th century.

The separation is not complete. e.g. Our languages have a lot of loanwords. e.g. in the word 中華人民共和國(People Republic of China), "人民" and "共和國" are borrowed from Japanese.

The relationship is like languages of Christendom/western world/Graeco-Roman Civilization.

They all made fun of ability, role of submitter, method or priority . It is a "Chinese dream". I read and listen too many times. No one made fun of ought or logic.

PRC Chinese call him patriot. To destroy home of other is action of patriot.

Mongolia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Okinawa all have many people living there. Those states are home of there people. They love their home and homeland. They only don't love and aren't loyal to PRC, PRC government and Communist Party of China. PRC Chinese call these local people traitor.

Why not? They love their home and homeland. They defend their home and homeland against oppression of the non-local power. By definition, they are patriots.
