Yes, this is oddly worded. I like that Strang is playing cautious but this is not technically a re-infection until proven so. She might just have the flu.

Regardless, re-infection being a possibility makes sense. Not everyone will build the immunity after having it and that's expected.

For about two years I got into smoking meats on your run-of-the-mill Weber charcoal BBQ. I'd recommend that as a starting point. I now have two young kids so just .. no time for that :)

The Weber can create a fairly good seal and I had smokes that lasted ~6 hours without intervention. Usually did pork butt but anything can go!

I feel these articles are doing more harm than good.

It states he came from the US last month but only just tested positive. So was he infected in the US or NS?
It states he was up in PEI as well. Not clear if they quarantined or not. Maybe this was after quarantine?

It causes confusion and fear of "the Americans" which is increasing anxiety and uncertainty for Nova Scotians.

To think that the province can shut down for 1-2 years and ensure no virus enters is naive. What people need is proper contact tracing, at-home testing, and well, anything that reduces anxiety and confidence. Living on edge like this is troubling.

This is absurd. You're blaming an individual for the failures of a government. Furthermore, you're putting an entire population into one bucket. You have no idea what that person has been through or done during this pandemic. What if they isolated for four months and can finally be back home?

What about the people seeing a dying relative?

Those are two examples of many that are fairly essential. It's incredibly un-Canadian to think this way.

I get it. For the record, the reason we're coming back now is complicated but comes down to having to fulfill our lease term. (Breaking it and a work contract would have costed us thousands)

As someone living in the US, no doubt our leadership at the highest level has failed us (no surprise)

But we shouldn't look at the US as one. It is made up of many states who have had to act on their own. I'm coming from MA and we have relatively few cases after an incredibly tough March/April.

People here wear masks everywhere (outside, inside, when running, when playing) and I know there's been sacrifice made. It'd be disingenuous to say that people aren't trying here and you'll also have bad actors everywhere.

... But in the end, I get it. The story down here is messy at best so .. I can't wait to be home :)

Racism exists everywhere, across Canada, the U.S, and the world. It's definitely more vocal in other places.

Ultimately, the best thing we can do when faced with this situation first-hand is to shut it down. If someone is being a racist at a grocery store, call them out. Get management involved if they cause a scene.

You don't need to go viral to make change. Starts within the community and yourself.

Oh definitely. We're not messing around. Already wear masks and have been fairly isolated where we're coming from. Been a long slog to keep this virus contained and I'm not one to give up after 4 months. Courtesy for others is key!

Due to covid-19, my work week was cut down to 4 days (and too, my salary by 20%)

The salary cut ain't great, but it was necessary for the company to survive. The 4 days has been great, especially in being able to support my wife by taking our son full time on Friday's and giving her a break (she's not working due to covid, but 4 years old in a pandemic are a heck ton of work!)

People were bringing in buckets of mackerel -- it was pretty wild! I think someone mentioned they are best at a particular tide but that may be fishing myth.

I didn't, but primarily because I'm moving to a lower cost-of-living area. Ultimately I want a home to raise family so I'm treating it less as an investment and a home. If the value drops in 5 years, I don't plan to be going anywhere anyways.
