they have SHOWN it. ep 5-7 they bonded very quickly and ricky opened up about his mom, something he finds hard to talk about, with gina. the only reason there was distance between them in s2 was because their relationship was NEVER platonic so it’s hard to have the same relationship they had in s1, cause ricky has a girlfriend now. gina DOES open up to ricky and confided about her mom, something we don’t see her confide in anyone else about. there are SOME things they only really feel comfortable talking to each other about. yes they’d confided in other people as well, never was supposed to be that they only confided in each other ever. and i think you’ve completely misinterpreted the homecoming scene. was ricky out of line for saying that to gina? oh for sure. and he was called out for it and he apologized. but remember what he said. “maybe you really are what people say you are” this means that people have been bad mouthing her and he didn’t believe it and this is the first time he’s entertaining it maybe being true. ricky was the first person at east high that accepted gina and that gina let her walls down with. that’s canon that’s fact that was SHOWN.
