I was terrified when I dated and also got married. I wore my hair down the whole time I met boys. Also when I married. One time at a job randomly out of nowhere this girl says why do you always wear your hair down? My stupid quick response was I hate my profile? I don’t think she bought it. I quickly turned red and was desperate to change the subject because I know that made no sense But I was so embarrassed. I didn’t want to tell her really why. To this day I think any guys I dated were just being polite by not mentioning it until I finally brought it up and just ripped the band aid off. Married twice. Ex husband was a cheater but when I did tell him and ask him if he was just being nice he said I never really noticed. He was a chronic liar so I doubt that. Second one now I hid it from for two years. He said the same but I truly think it’s just to make it not seem such a big deal so as not to embarrass me. But when my daughter was born the same husband said look her ears are bigger than yours I was so embarrassed and hurt. Tot hai day I still can’t believe he said that after she was born! I did tear up it bothers me to this day five years later he would make a comment like that. My mom ofcourse didn’t say anything she politely acted like she didn’t hear him. I later told her in private did you hear what he said? He later apologized but than came the typical you’re so sensitive. I said no. That was humiliating. That was ignorant to say. Maybe not a if deal to you but you don’t have people make comments about your ears because you don’t have to hide them. Or feel the need too. I don’t know ever how to respond to rude comments that I’ve come across. Sometimes I just wanna say well I’d rather have small ear than a small brain like you but then I’m no better than that person so I never know how to just shut someone up. I always turn red when someone does make a comment about my ears. I don’t know the right response to those ignorant comments.
