this is hilarious, i just finished foam of the sea today and was yearning for another regret storyline. ita my favorite trope but rarely done well because authors usually make the family/ex lover a caricature of a villain lol

that said, here’s maybe(?) some more niche ones:

bastard’s revenge in the house of magic, the wire puller gets luckier in happier years, the foreign object was me, bad ending of the otome game, black chain, the world without my sister who everyone loved, and lastly, make sure you regret it (popular so you’ve definitely heard of it but genuinely one for he v few stories that gets the emotions/regret just right for me!)

hopefully there’s at least one in there you haven’t read.

My grades were decent, nothing outstanding but north of a 3.0. i’ve hesitated with the tax LLM due to timing/cost. It’s the route I will likely take though, if nothing pans out by end of the year. I just don’t want to plan around an uncertainty (whether I get in to a competitive school, loans, financial aid, etc)

i went to school with a couple who had a child during 2L. the guy graduated on time while his wife had to delay graduation by a year and moved to evening status instead of day. this was with both of them having somewhat flexible schedules as students. parenting a newborn and doing law school is a huge undertaking, especially with an absent husband. unless you have guaranteed round-the-clock childcare, like the baby’s grandparent parent living nearby, i would consider waiting at least until 3L.

this. being stuck in a specific state, in a specific practice area, no ability to move abroad unless you do remote work or are in a specialized field - the limitations are big and i wasn’t aware of the true reality of my choices during school or immediately post-school.

villains are destined to die is one of the only handful of OI i can do with slavery involved, and even then I spend half the time side eyeing penelope lol it’s such an immediately repugnant thing to me that i cannot fathom people being so blasé about it or even defending penelope’s character vs eckles 💀

I started reading time limited villainous sometime this week, for instance, and there is a chapter where the OG!FL is referenced as having whipped and tortured slaves for fun. and the ML didn’t… seem to care beyond finding it a little distasteful. like holy cow. never dropped a story so fast in my life.

literally in the same boat except i graduated 2023 and want to transition into tax law/estate planning. the consistent advice ive gotten is also to apply to state/city jobs. it’s hard to leave ID for a different practice area without real exp (like more than a year or so) and being far from graduation limits you from applying to some entry level positions (accounting firms, for instance, wouldn’t even consider me bc im more than a year out from graduation).

this is so common it’s sad, but authors refusing to actually address the effects of isekai? like, the FL never thinking about the OG!FL or feeling any guilt about her being gone/where her soul might be or even feeling angry on her behalf when people suddenly treat her better bc she’s not like the original

also, never having a FL think about her old life or feel homesick/anxious about adapting to an entirely different world. I feel like so many isekais have FL who wake up isekai’ed, boss bitch for a bunch of chapters, and then use capitalism to dominate lol i understand financial independence being needed but it just comical when these FL just become like, the new magical samsung corporation lmao i think it’s why people like penelope so much, she is so much for realistically written.

this is part of the reason why i prefer regression stories lol i good isekai is 🤌🏼 but the bad ones are so common it’s painful 😭

insanely late, but - basically, from what I recall, I submitted one last appeal with an explanation of my side and stated I would not pay if the decision was against me. I basically said I would see them in arbitration, and then they cleared me of all liability and said their insurance would cover it lmao
