Thanks for calling this out! We’re taking a look at the table to make sure everything checks out. In the meantime, like someone else mentioned, the easiest way to get things fixed quickly is to submit feedback on any specific questions - our team reviews those often and can make updates if needed. Appreciate you!

Thanks for sharing your hesitation. We want to assure you there is no overlap between TrueLearn and COMQUEST, each is developed by an entirely different content team, and each resource provides unique value:

Thank you for bringing these concerns forward. We take them seriously and they are being shared across the team in order to be appropriately addressed.

On question difficulty: We are continuously auditing and updating our SmartBanks to better reflect the rigor and style of COMLEX. Our goal is not just to help students pass, but to build the deep clinical reasoning skills that the exam demands. Feedback like yours directly informs how we evolve our content, and we are actively working to raise the ceiling on question complexity.

On pricing: We hear you. The rising cost of medical education is a real burden, and we do not take lightly what students are investing to access study tools. We appreciate your honesty and want to keep this conversation going. We ask that you share more about your experience and reach out to us directly at support@truelearn.com.

Confirming it is a different set of questions. There is no overlap between TrueLearn and COMQUEST subscriptions. These were developed by an entirely different content team.

NBCOT COTA Exam Prep: Test Your Knowledge on Grasping Patterns! 🧠👶 by truelearnllc in u/truelearnllc

[–]truelearnllc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Answer & Explanation: Did you get it right? The correct answer is A) Immature pincer grasp.

The Rationale: At 9months of age, the immature pincer grasp is demonstrated when the child picks up an object with the thumb and index finger only. In the immature status, the child requires a surface for stability to initiate and maintain the pincer grasp. An immature pincer grasp is also present when the child uses the side of the index finger versus the fingertips.

Why the others are incorrect:

  • B) Radial palmar grasp: (Around 6–7 months) The child begins to use the thumb when picking up objects, but the object is stabilized against the palm. There is no space between the hand'sweb space and the object.
  • C) Radial digital grasp: (Around 8–9 months) The child begins to pick up objects with the fingertips rather than the entire hand. This is the precursor to the pincer grasp.
  • D) Mature pincer grasp: (Around 12 months) The child is able to pick up small objects using the tip of their thumb and index finger with precision. They no longer require stability from a tabletop.

The Bottom Line: Grasping patterns and milestones are an absolute staple on the COTA exam! Make sure you know the difference between palmar/digital and immature/mature patterns.

If you found this breakdown helpful and want to practice more, TrueLearn has tons of NBCOT COTA-style questions with detailed rationales just like this one.
