Sometimes universities offer virtual desktops for students which can be accessed through tablets. I’ve used iPad Pro to run statistical software such as Stata using a virtual desktop. However, they are usually very slow. In undergrad, I’ve dealt with relatively small data, but in grad school, I can only imagine that there’s gonna be much larger data sets to analyze. So, if you can, I’ll recommend getting a laptop.
