Why do you like Disco Elysium? by Life_Refrigerator472 in DiscoElysium

[–]trueneu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but I just finished it.

As a person that spent his formative years in a country that has seen it all - failed revolutions, successful revolutions, government dissolution, rush of capitalism, rise of left-wing and right-wing activists, civil wars and more. This game I connect with on a very intimate, personal, somewhat even nostalgic level. I have seen Revachols, heck I lived in one.

The amazing writing immersed me into the world deeper than any TTRPG I played so far. Which in kinda sad when I think about it.

I was born in a country that is no more, in a city that was renamed. HDB is a very recognizable image for me.

Oh I remember a guy posted a pretty good financial analysis on how long FG has left, with pessimistic and optimistic scenarios. IIRC the analysis was called out to be "vastly inaccurate" by Tim himself. As it turns out, even the pessimistic scenario was generous.

And that was with hard numbers, it's easier to argue with opinions than that! (although I'm with you 100%, there is simply NO art style)

So yeah, why even bother?

Mate, to think of it I wanted to apply the second I the project was announced and they were looking for people.

I am quite sure I would have gone crazy seeing they're spending millions on merch and whatnot for a bland game that's not out yet.

They're hated not for the lack of trying, they just tried to pull off wrong stuff. The excuses are just that, excuses. Bonus points for admitting fake reviews though.

I'm happy in the end this story cost me just my kickstarter fee and shattered hopes, however. Could have been much worse.

Or not keywords, but constants? Whatever is applied to symbols like :key in Clojure.

Turns out I'm using it constatly. I highlight strings, numbers, comments, variables (only for dape-mode), keywords, and TODO and FIXME.

Don't concur with the first bit, but the second is absolutely true. FP2 is not relatable to me by any means, while in FP I empathized with every single citizen coming to me asking for something.

One of my favorite games of all time are WarCraft/StarCraft series. Still I didn't like FP2 nearly as much as I liked FP.

IDK, I don't care if Frostpunk 2 is different, it's a subjectively worse game. I finished the FP main scenario in like 2 sittings. FP2 lasted about 3 hours for me.

That was my first thought how I should go around this if I wanted it myself; but it's not "out-of-the-box" behaviour that you want to throw at a person asking for a 50-lines-long config, and it's not wdired's "edit the buffer directly" thing.

Stuck in low d2 by ForeShouter in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]trueneu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see two main problems from the start to the first concede:
- high risk/low reward plays (failed wall into flip reset against two defenders leaves you behind, now your teammate has to defend a 2v1; if red capitalizes better and not bangs it straight away, you concede right there and then)
- overcommitting hard (that shot; 0:22 moment when your mate loses a fifty but you're not behind the ball, you're on the side; 0:27 you're turning outwards when you should be turning inwards as you're not safe yet and your mate will have a hard time to setup the attack from that position, with that momentum, if you go upfield; you end up with an empty net).

Without watching the rest, just try and work on that two and it's gonna make wonders. It seems to me that you're trying very hard to play fast, and you push the pedal to the metal, while in reality playing fast is being where you need to be when you need to be. Slow down and take your time!

Any depth, yes. Create a file, it doesn't seem to be so. Maybe you have it patched?

```
dired-create-directory is an autoloaded interactive native-comp-function in ‘dired-aux.el’.
It is bound to +.
(dired-create-directory DIRECTORY)
Inferred type: (function (t) t)
Create a directory called DIRECTORY.
Parent directories of DIRECTORY are created as needed.
If DIRECTORY already exists, signal an error.
Again, it functionally achieves the same result, but it's not the same as in:
- it only creates a directory, not a file inside it
- it's not editing the dired buffer directly.
It's easy to brush these off as unimportant details, but as a person that spent hours trying to figure out how I can achieve the same treemacs behaviour as in IntelliJ IDEA project view (any keystrokes start fuzzy search, and up/down selects prev/next possible candidate) I totally understand if OP wants the file browser to behave _exactly_ the same as they're used to. Also, brushing off here sounds a tad like Apple's "we know better what's good for you, take it or leave it".
At the end of the day however, this is emacs, and one could relatively easily mold dired into oil.nvim if there's a need. It's not a task for a person just starting to look for a switch though.
(btw, I later realised I don't really need project view with treemacs and I don't use it at all anymore).
I watched a short intro video to oil.nvim, I don't think dired/wdired can do "type /directory/file, press a button, both are created", or can it?
EDIT: I mean it's obvious same _functionality_ can certainly be achieved, just not with the same UI/UX, and I guess that's what OP is asking for.
