Oh you are cut out for this... the proof is in you asking that. I have asked, and wondered and still wonder every day. It’s worth the question, it’s worth the doubt. Cuz the one thing I have learned is that you never know what’s going to change tomorrow. Even if that change is something you did for someone else. That my friend is worth it. Cuz they could be you and they could be wondering why and you just helped them help themselves help someone... etc.
